This just in: Old Man Yells at Cloudđ
It's 95â° out today! I walked in to Van Leeuwen and spent some time cooling off and deciding what I wanted. After about 2-3 minutes I decided on the Earl Grey only to be told that the store doesn't accept cash! I put the icecream back and said that I'd be back.
I walked home, got my card, looked up the law, and went back and said to person working, " Hey, It's not a big deal because I live close by, but I looked it up and there's a cashless business ban in Philly and it's illegal not to accept cash." The person working there was nice enough, but got defensive and told me that he doesn't make the rules and just works there, so I told him to inform the manager, and he wished me a nice day as I was leaving.
A. It's illegal not to accept cash B. I love Stash Tea Double Bergamot tea and was expecting that level of flavor profile- The VL Earl Grey is just okay and not worth the $11 they charge. The exact same pint and flavor costs $4.98+ tax @ Walmart. That's what it's worth, and Walmart takes cash.
The extra $6 cost and the denial of valid U.S. currency to a local resident like me by V.L. is the epitome of everything that's wrong with gentrification. It's over priced convenience designed to be inconvenient to a certain demographic like the poor and elderly who might only be able to use cash for special treats like local sub-par ice-cream at an inflated price.
That was my 1st time and will be my last time eating their product. There's so many other options out there that still take cash. I hope someone reports y'all! Thanks for coming...

From the moment we walked into the store, Iyanna greeted us with a warm, welcoming smile that immediately made us feel valued. Her energy, professionalism, and attention to detail were unmatched. She was incredibly knowledgeable about all the ice cream flavors, offered free samples, and even asked every customer if they had any allergies a thoughtful touch that showed she genuinely cares.
Although some of the seasonal flavors we were hoping to try weren't available, Iyanna went the extra mile to help us choose some delicious vegan options we ended up loving. She handled multiple crowd rushes with patience, efficiency, and grace, never once letting the quality of service drop. Every customer was treated with the same care, kindness, and respect.
What made todayâs experience stand out even more is that, compared to our last two visits where we didnât receive any attention or customer service from the previous young ladies working, Iyanna provided an exceptional level of care that truly blew us away. She took our feedback with grace, spoke to her manager, and the manager kindly offered us a complimentary scoop of ice cream.
Iyanna is a natural leader with a heart for service. She has what it takes to not only manage this location but also train teams across multiple locations company-wide. Her customer service is truly world-class. Iyanna is a shining example of excellence, and the company is lucky...

If heaven had a freezer, it would be stocked with Van Leeuwen.
I came in for a treat and left with a religious experience. Their Coffee Affogato flavor is everything an espresso-lover dreams ofâintensely bold, silky, with that creamy finish that wraps your tongue like a velvet curtain call. Itâs not just coffee ice creamâitâs an Italian cafĂŠ pressed into a cone.
Then thereâs Pistachioânot the artificial neon green kind, but the real-deal roasted pistachio essence. Nutty, rich, and quietly luxurious. Itâs like they churned up a Mediterranean summer and handed it to me in a biodegradable cup.
But the showstopper? Marionberry Cheesecake. A fever dream of tart berry swirls and thick cheesecake folds, each bite a layered masterpiece. Itâs tangy, itâs sweet, itâs slightly sinfulâand completely addictive.
The staff were kind, the shop smelled like toasted sugar and happiness, and every flavor felt like it was made to be somebodyâs favorite.
Glowing doesnât even begin to cover itâVan Leeuwen is a shrine to the art of ice cream....
