Terrible, terrible service! We arrived about 5:45 pm and find two seats at the bar. We waited over 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us. There were 4 people behind the bar, and this is a very small place, so I don't know why we were ignored. The bartender closest to us was flirting with two young girls seating right next to us and didn't even look our way. Once we were finally waited on we ordered two beers and the cheese plate. There are only 2 items of food; a cheese plate, and a choice of 5 different grilled cheese sandwiches. The cheese plate was ok but the grilled cheese sandwiches are made on a Panini press at the end of the bar and were not that good. A half hour passed and we were still waiting for the cheese plate. After another 10 minutes of trying to get the bartenders attention, (he was still flirting with the girls and drinking beer with them) I asked where the cheese plate was. He forgot. What? I don't know why this place has high reviews, probably from idiots who don't go to efficiently run places or have no standards. They take your order and write it down on a receipt pad, yet check you out with an iPad. The hand written receipt isn't even legible. They don't have any printed menu to look at for the beers or wine, so you have to look at the chalk boards on the walls to find what you want. You can't do this without leaving your seat and walking around the bar to see everything. No owner or manager anywhere which doesn't surprise me. Don't waste your time here. Go to Growlers USA, they have a better beer selection and real food, and they...
ย ย ย Read moreMy review is of the apparent hostess that worked 1/19, and not the place itself. Last night a friend and I were looking for a place to grab a drink after a movie and randomly googled and found your establishment. We went down the steps and walked into the open bookshelf door and sat down. We said hello to the the brown haired woman behind the bar and was greeted with a rude glare and no response. As we sat for a while we then tried to get that womanโs attention to ask her about the menu..to which she rolled her eyes and ignored us again. After a few more minutes of not being acknowledged, we see the same woman greet, give water and explain the menu to other people that just walked in. We then noticed that we may have come in through the back door by accident. To which we quickly got up and corrected our mistake. HOWEVER, if that rude, brown haired, eye rolling woman had been an actual hostess, and explained to us โhey guys, you came in the wrong wayโ we would have apologized and corrected the situation. Instead we were met with rude glares, no acknowledgement and just ended up leaving.
The atmosphere is wonderful and the drink menu looked great, but I probably wonโt be back due to the absolute horrible experience at the actions of that โhostessโ who instead of letting us know we were in the wrong, she acted like a child and was...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is an amazing place, that you would probably never find if you weren't looking for it. With over 30 beers on tap (that rotate frequently, so if you find one you like, order another one) and many more in the can or bottle, it sits as one of my favorite taprooms. If you're hungry, they also have various styles of grilled cheese sandwiches, and a tasty meat platter.
The staff are wonderful - friendly and immensely knowledgeable about beers, and eager to recommend something new.
The decor is fun and quirky, from the bar top filled with thousands of pennies to the natural wood tables. There are a variety of games to play while you socialize and drink, and one of the chalkboard walls is open for patrons to draw or write on.
Try it out, and I'm pretty sure you'll keep on going back. I know I do.
(p.s. Also look up Pigtails, the speakeasy in the back room, if you want something harder than...
