The food at Freddy's all tastes great, but it's not my favorite. First, the fries are the thinnest shoestring style fries I've ever seen. I prefer a bit more substance to my fries. The burger patties are very thin also so I recommend getting a double. They're steakburgers as opposed to your typical ground beef patty so they do have really great flavor, they're just not real thick. Their prices are a bit high for what you get in my opinion.
One cool thing about this diner is the complimentary fry sauce and jalapeno fry sauce in addition to the standard ketchup. Another thing I like is the pickles on the burger are sliced lengthwise so you get a couple really good "strips" of pickle rather than a few round slices you might get at another fast food joint.
The cheese curds are some of the very best I've ever had at a fast food restaurant. They're almost as good as fresh, "fair food" style curds you'd find in Wisconsin. I'd recommend passing on the skinny fries and just get a side of cheese curds instead.
The frozen custard is delicious. I'm partial to the turtle sundae, but they have a large selection of items including shakes. In addition to the regular selection of soft drinks they also serve fresh brewed Luzianne tea; both sweetened and unsweetened.
Lastly, the staff are absolutely great. They are extremely friendly and genuinely seem like they are happy to help you. Another plus is that the dining area is always nice and clean.
Overall, Freddy's has slightly above average food, great custard and...
Read moreWe hadn't been at this place for over a year because of bad service but last night we said let's try it again. We walked in and a older lady was working the front counter looked up at us as we were an inconvenience, asked what we wanted. I asked for my old favorite The Hawaiian Delight and she said to me " the sundae or concrete?" I'm like what is the concrete? She definitely gave me an attitude as she explained the difference to me as if she was tired of explaining it (as if all she did was explain all day)...I say I want the sundae and I'm looking for different size cups to determine what size I wanted.. But before I could she frustratedly asked me "1 scoop or 2?".. I said 2..she then said, "whipped cream and a cherry?(I nodded yes) anything else?" of course my boyfriend by that time just asked for a hot fudge sundae and in the middle of him saying the size she interrupted him asking "chocolate or vanilla custard?" he said "vanilla and 2 scoops".. She rings us up and proceeds to tell us "when your order is ready it will be right here" using her hands and gesturing to the corner of the counter making a square gesture.. I sure felt like we were idiots or something. And when she called our number it was so monotoned.. I've seen older people more upbeat and friendlier than her. Don't know if we will go back anytime soon again. Plus the sundaes were rushed and sloppy.. Chocolate fudge sundae was more chocolate fudge than...
Read moreFreddy's is slipping into the norm of other fast food restaurants when the man tells me that Freddy's only gives military discounts on Mondays and Tuesdays. I love this place and how they have supported men and women in uniform. The founder was a service member! I wonder what is changing with their business plan. I typically tell other service members who are saving them one dime out of a dollar (not including tax) for serving this country. If you haven't served, lost, overcome, hurt, or dealt with the aftermath of war, you'll never understand what a dime out of a dollar means to a service member. Whether you make $12,000 a year or $120,000 a year, we support those institutions, big or small, and not just on veterans day. Yes, the food is great, the atmosphere was good, the people are phenomenal, but serving those who served is lacking. I have no issues with how you run your business, so please don't have an issue where I choose to spend my money or share the same information with others. Oh, I'll be back, but it's no longer my #1 burger or custard joint to take the family, kids, grandkids, or the...
