Noticed the streamers on a new Chinese restaurant on NE 51st Ave and Bell Rd. Behind the gas station and Buster's. Stopped in yesterday and ordered the basics, ya know... first time new place. Like with pizza, just cheese. Let me see the crust, sauce, cheese. If those are all great, you can't mess it up with other stuff. That's how I feel about most restaurants. So I took out a meat egg roll because veggie spring rolls are for turnips. And I can't resist pan fried potstickers. And lemme tell ya, neither of these disappointed. The egg rolls were filled with more yummy stuff than the other nearby places offer, and biting into them was easy, not overly crusty or thick. I didn't even make a crumb mess. Same with the pot stickers, just like I like em crisped up. Delish.
So today I called for pickup, and asked "Do you have orange beef?" I like OB even more than potstickers, and was pleasantly surprised hear they do! It was hard to find a menu online to order from though. But if ya know what ya want, you can just call and ask. One listing online I found looking for a menu even had a wrong/disconnected number associated with it. Oh well... the orange beef... yes. It was excellent, as well as the second try on the egg roll pair. Simply amazing. But what surprised me was the "lunch special"... it had four rolls of sushi, and noodles, and crab puff (even THAT was the best I've ever had... it was actually full of good stuff and not so flakey and crunchy like a fortune cookie). Had a little tempura veggie, a cuke I think. But it was gone before I thought to even look. I thought it was another crab puff. haha.
I think this is my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the Valley now that Shangri La on Cactus is shuttered. I can't wait to try the other dishes on their menu, and will have to remember to grab one for take out tomorrow. Cashew chicken...
Read moreTo be totally honest this place has ok food it is editable but the reason for this truthful review is the front of house The Little Old Lady Who barks orders and demeans her wait staff verbally and physically with body language has the worst demeanor ever possible and she should not be in Food Service dealing with customers the gentleman who is in the front of the house insist on tying the bag shut when you come pick up an order and if you ask for Chopsticks or fortune cookies which they never include or napkins then they hand it to you and want you to carry out your utensils and your fortune cookies separate then the order you had bagged up they let people stand their cluelessly there's no signs to seat yourself so some white people were waiting to be seated they were a party of three and about 10 Asian people came in and sat down walked right up to their own tables and sat wherever they wanted and the angry old lady the older man in the front and the waitress never acknowledged the three people standing at the door and that was their for the 10 minutes I was waiting to pick up my order today was my second time back to this place and again I opened my bag as I was paying for my food to see no Chopsticks no napkins no fortune cookie so I asked a guy is this your policy this is a to go order with no utensils to eat it you're supposed to just eat with your hands apparently in this restaurant just the most disgusting way to ever treat other human beings who are coming to patronize your establishment you really ought to learn how the front of the house is supposed to treat your customers shame on you food is okay the people are horrible!!! Try to greet your customers with friendly body language and a nice greeting while they're standing there waiting to be seated...
Read moreWanted to try a new place today and this was close and looked interesting. The place itself is well appointed and clean. The TV was working weird which was a little distracting but overall a decent atmosphere. The waitstaff was very friendly but there may be some language barriers because there were mistakes in our orders. I ordered a salmon avocado handroll and a regular roll was delivered on the same plate with my friend's sashimi. We explained the issue, she took the plate away and returned with a Salmon handroll once again on the same plate. No biggie I guess. The food came, I had the chicken with snowpeas lunch which included a miso soup, crab puff thing, half roll that I thought the menu said was a half California roll but seemed more like a shrimp tempura, 2 pieces of vegetable tempura and I chose rice rather than lo mein. Food was average at best. The salmon was fine just not great. The chicken with snowpeas was fresh enough just really salty. The tempura vegetables, potato and carrot were totally raw inside. My friend had the Shrimp Egg Foo Yung which she liked overall, good portion but her sauce too was very very salty. We probably won't be back, wasn't bad just wasn't really good. Good value and...
