I used to go here all the time when I worked in the plaza several years ago and it was great! I haven’t been much since, but today was the first time in months that I’ve been here. Instead of tacos, I ordered a chicken burrito with basically everything on it to change things up. However, this burrito was very disappointing. I ordered at roughly 7:20pm and when I picked it up at roughly 7:36pm, it was cold to the touch. The inside was partially lukewarm, but that’s mainly because this burrito was mainly pico, cabbage, and beans; opposed to everything else I wanted on the burrito. To make it worse, there was little to no chicken in this burrito. And when I mean "little to no;" I think there was less than a tablespoon scoop worth of chicken in this burrito. This burrito was basically lukewarm refried beans mixed with cold pico and cabbage, plus a tortilla on the outside.

Did the staff run out of chicken or something? I mean, if they told me when I picked up if I wanted to change proteins to something at the ready, I probably would. If someone would ask me if I would come back to spend $12.59? … unlikely. Honestly, Chipotle gives "generous" amounts of protein in comparison to here (and that’s saying something), but for 3 dollars less....

I love trying new taco shops. This one had decent tacos here with interesting family boxes to share.

However, the cook really dropped the ball with under cooked rice and under cooked bean and cheese burritos with almost no beans. If you do plan on eating here, I would recommend getting two/three street tacos, no beans or rice. The horchata was pretty standard and wasn't bad to try either.

Finally, I would not recommend bringing kids here. Right now, there was only one option, and it was a street taco sized cheese quesadilla with no sides for five/six dollars. Or add meat to it for nine dollars.

I think overall management should spend time paying for quality cooks. The decor, prices, environment and flavors already set you above Rubio's and Taco Bell, but if you can't pull off basic items like rice or burritos than you are offering less quality for higher prices. That puts you in the category of airport food. The best way to survive this reputation is to have more than one good cook back there who is paid well and respected. Then everything falls into place and the brand...

Storefront in nice shopping center. We ordered at the counter and ate in the restaurant since we were staying at a hotel Food was not good. Hubby had a chicken burrito Could hardly find the chicken and it was cold. I had a chicken taco, pretty good with a few chunks of chicken, not much cheese and was cold. I was shocked at my favorite, a bean burrito. They spread a thin layer of beans that barely covered the tortilla, hardly a taste of beans or cheese . It too was cold. I have to say the tortilla and the salsa were very good. I had a mango drink that was watery . This was on August when the virus scare was still on and the two young people working didn't make any effort to wipe down tables or tend to the salsa bar. Hubby had a few bites and quit. When we left we went. to a near by Denny's where he had a sandwich. I hope the owners read this and can rectify the situation as the concept is a good idea but I won't get Hubby to...

The steak was really tough, and I didn't get a lot of mesquite flavor this time. The corn tortillas are yellow corn, not the white corn, and fell apart very easily. This Mayo Rd. location was light on the cheese (good) and added guacamole (meh) to the tacos. The condiment bar was well stocked, and they have a soda fountain machine. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, the exhaust fan over the grill was very loud and precluded table conversation. The refried beans were good, but I was hoping for some whole pinto beans as a lighter option. The chicken tacos were good, but again, light on the mesquite flavor. Overall the food was slightly above average. I think I like the Camelback location more, but if in North Scottsdale again I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the Mayo Rd. location.

Nice, simple taqueria. The thing I like most about this place is the simplicity. There are only really three options. First choosing your meal, burrito, taco or bowl. Second choose your tortilla, flower or corn. Last Choose your meat chicken or steak. It is really nice not having to much to decide on. Also the food is really good. Lovely hints of smokey flavor in the meat. They also have a salsa bar where you add your own toppings like cabbage, cheese, salsa, pico, and more. I like this because you can add as much or as little of each topping as you want. Most places are like Subway and you just deal with whatever quantity they pile on. Lastly the price is pretty good. My wife and I just ate there for $15 which included four taco's and a drink. Not to bad for a two person lunch in Scottsdale.

Other reviewers must of have an off experience, because I’ve been here several times now and the service is always great, food always delicious, and restaurant kept clean. I can understand the self serve area getting out of hand fairly quickly, but I see similarly dirty self serve areas at nearly every other Mexican place with this feature. Definitely not a big issue for me. I came in at 9:40PM on a week day and the place looked closed. Upon inquiring, the staff was extremely nice and assured me that I could order anything on the menu. They were so kind and genuine, it really made me feel good about ordering, even though I knew I was coming in really late. Will definitely be back.
