Pomeroyâs
The neon Pomeroyâs sign flickered against the night sky, casting a warm glow over the sidewalk like a welcome beacon. Inside, the air buzzed with conversation, the occasional clatter of pool balls, and the hum of classic rock spilling from an old jukebox in the corner. It wasnât just a barâit was a community, a place where anyone could pull up a stool and feel at home.
Behind the bar, the bartender moved with practiced ease, greeting each guest by name before their drink even hit the counter. Regulars lined the bar, swapping stories, laughing, and shaking off the day. Some had been coming here for years, others had just found their way in, but it never took long for a new face to become a familiar one.
Near the pool tables, groups of all kinds mingledâGen Xers in band tees, cowpokes fresh off work, and couples dressed sharp for a night out. Arcade machines beeped and flashed as players took their turns, the games offering the same thrill they had decades ago.
In the back, the kitchen was a whirlwind of movement, the scent of sizzling burgers and crispy fries filling the air. The cooks, sleeves inked with tattoos, hustled hard, working the grill like an art form. Orders flew out to the bar, piled high with the kind of comfort food that soaked up a nightâs worth of drinks and stories.
Happy hour hit, and the bartender slid two ice-cold mugs across the bar to a surprised guest.
âOnly ordered one,â came the response.
The bartender just grinned. âItâs two-for-one. House rules.â
A clink of glasses, a shared laughâjust another night at Pomeroyâs. It was the kind of place where people from all walks of life came together, bound by nothing more than good drinks, great food, and the understanding that everyone belonged.
The night stretched on, voices rising and falling in rhythm with the music, the games, and the easy, familiar comfort of a neighborhood bar that...
Read moreI've never felt so unfairly treated in my life until I went to Pomeroy's. My experience at this bar was nothing short of disgraceful, and I urge anyone with a sense of dignity to steer clear of this establishment.
Let me share my story: I accompanied a friend to Pomeroy's, and despite her being a bit tipsy, she was asked to leave, which she did without causing any further disturbance. However, while outside, she engaged in conversation with other patronsâminding her own business on the sidewalk, mind youâonly to be confronted again by the same bartender who rudely demanded she leave the entire premises. When she understandably became upset, the bartender escalated the situation, leading to an unnecessary altercation where my friend acted out of frustration.
Here's where it gets absurd: I was inside the bar the entire time, not causing any trouble, not involved in any arguments, yet I was inexplicably banned from returning. When I attempted to revisit the bar a week later, I was met with unjustified hostility and informed that I, too, was unwelcome. The staff offered no valid explanation for my banishment, leaving me feeling discriminated against.
This establishment's behavior is beyond petty; it's downright shameful. Instead of addressing the situation with professionalism and fairness, the bartender chose to act out of embarrassment or spite, punishing innocent patrons like myself for no reason whatsoever. Their lack of accountability and transparency is appalling.
In response to this mistreatment, I'll be taking my grievances to the Better Business Bureau and exploring all available avenues. Pomeroy's has demonstrated a complete disregard for customer respect and decency, and I refuse to support such behavior. Save yourself the trouble and dignity by avoiding Pomeroy's...
Read moreThis place is the perfect non-pretentious, local bar. I go here because the bartenders are cool and genuine people, they have mega reasonable prices, and the menu kicks ass. It can get busy, but it's laid out really well, and you never really feel crowded. I also really enjoy the variety of people who show up. It's very geriatric during the day, Gen X/Millennial types in the late afternoon/evening, and college kids at night. I mostly like to go to the bar to sit in silence and watch sports on TV, talk a little with the bartenders, and eavesdrop on drunk conversations -- Pomeroys gets it done for me.
If you're into bar food, which is my s*, the menu is loaded. It's like elevated bar food with high quality stuff, some they make themselves and some they get from Costco, but it's all top tier. The patty melt, sliders, french dip, and hot dogs are big recommends. Also the sandwiches - they slice all their deli meats and...
