Made a reservation here for 8 for brunch. When we arrived the hostess notified us that another employee had seated a group at the table that was supposed to be reserved for us. No apology was offered - just a very matter of fact notification that we didn’t have a table. She then offered to seat us in an outdoor cocktail area where the tables were at knee height. We reluctantly accepted. Somebody then brought out a single carafe of water that filled the glasses of 4 of the 8 people in our group. We then didn’t see a waiter for 15 minutes. We got up, found somebody and asked if we could order. At this point we asked for more water and drinks. The additional water (which would be the first water for 4 people in the group) and drinks did not come out for 10 another minutes.
I got up to speak to a manager for the second time. I asked to pay for the drinks that have been delivered so we could leave. He said somebody would bring the bill over shortly. That bill never came. Instead the food was delivered. Our group begrudgingly started to eat.
I had ordered enchiladas and eggs. I cut into one of the eggs to find that it was almost entirely raw - a combination of raw egg white and yolk spilled across my plate.
At this point I got up to speak to the manager for a third time. I told him the bill I asked for earlier never came and that instead I was served raw food. He said he’d take care of it. I waited for the him or the waitress come back with some resolution. Finally the waitress brought out a full price bill. I was astounded and explained the situation to her. She left and came back with my dish removed from the bill. I spoke to the manager for a 4th time and told him that he was essentially choosing to do nothing about the service and failed reservation if he was only going to comp a dish that should have been comped anyway due to raw egg being served on it.
You would think that if a restaurant screwed up a reservation they would at least try to be attentive. Not at this place. Throughout all of this I was never apologized to. This was possibly the worst service I’ve ever experienced. It’s the first time in my life that I did not leave a tip for the waitress. Suffice to say I would not...
Read moreLocated just off the main street with modest parking and easy access, Richardson Restaurant presents itself as a low-lit, intimate venue, ideal for a first date or quiet dinner. A larger dining room is available for group seating, though space remains fairly limited throughout.
The ambiance leans heavily into darkness, offering a cozy feel; however, guests with mobility challenges should take note. The booths are elevated, and the space between tables is quite narrow. Navigating the dining room can be difficult for those requiring additional room or accessibility accommodations.
My initial impression of the menu was hopeful. The daily specials sounded inspired and thoughtfully curated. Unfortunately, by the fourth or fifth item, the spark of excitement faded. The list felt more like a collection of loosely themed dishes than a cohesive offering.
For my meal, I ordered the enchiladas with green sauce. While the presentation was confusing enough so to question what had actually arrived; the flavor profile was far more successful. The bold, layered seasoning compensated for the lack of visual appeal.
One standout was the onion rings, which are reportedly a house favorite. They lived up to the praise. Crispy, well-seasoned, and paired with a rich dipping sauce, they were easily the highlight of the evening.
Service was friendly but slightly disjointed. Staff members were quick to greet and move along before questions could be asked or answered. This hurried pace may be a response to prior critiques regarding slow service. If so, the adjustment is understandable, though it sacrificed some of the natural hospitality.
In summary, Richardson Restaurant offers an enjoyable dining experience with a few caveats. It feels more like a place to check off your list rather than a must-visit gem. Still, the kitchen shows potential; with refined service pacing and stronger menu cohesion, it could evolve into something...
Read moreI’m torn with how many stars to rate Richardson’s. One of our neighbors recommended this restaurant for good New Mexico cuisine because she grew up in New Mexico. Hubby and I were out that way Saturday helping a friend go car shopping. Stopped here for lunch. The reason I’m torn with the star rating is because Richardson’s is not at all wheelchair friendly, but the food is fabulous. The parking is also questionable. It looks like valet parking, but since I have a handicap placard we parked in the one and only handicap parking space near the entrance. Through the entrance there is a patio and Richardson’s is to the left. Once inside there is only one table that is sort of wheelchair accessible. It’s in a corner to the left. There was already a couple sitting at the table, but they saw us and immediately got up and gave us the table. There is a step to get up to the other tables. The place is small and there’s a big bar in the middle. The waiter was great and helped with our selection of food since it was our first time. After we ordered food I wanted to use the restroom. It was an obstacle course for me in the wheelchair. The bar stools were in the way so my hubby started to move them, but there really was nowhere to put them (it’s a very narrow walkway), so a waiter moved them somewhere, but put them back without waiting for me return to my table, so I had to kind of push them with my feet out of the way on the way back to my table to eat. The food was delicious though. There is patio seating that probably had more room for a wheelchair, but I don’t know for sure. I do recommend this restaurant because the food is great, but for wheelchair users it’s hard to maneuver inside, but maybe the patio...
