The Human Bean — Restaurant in Phoenix

This location has added a drive up order box in the front of the building. It is very difficult to get to the speaker when turning in off 16th St. You have to drive all the way around the building AND there is really no indication that you need to do this. Every time I go to this location someone drives in and directly to the pick up window while I am busy driving around to the speaker box. Invariably the barista takes that person’s order right at the window! So my wait is extra long. The only thing management has done is post a small hand written cardboard sign that is not noticeable unless you are at the pick up window advising people that orders will only be taken through the speaker menu. Clearly this is not true. Perhaps management could invest in some plastic rope chains and place them along the drive through route-thereby signaling people coming in from 16th St that they can not just drive directly to the window? Dutch Brothers seems to manage this just fine. In the meantime I avoid going to the Human Bean because I just don’t need extra stress and...

I first heard about this place from a friend of mine who lives near this location in particular, so we decided to come here together the other day so I could try this place out! I wasn't too sure what to expect, since I'm not a huge coffee drinker. But I liked how much variety the menu had - especially with their smoothies and granitas! I ended up getting the 20 oz chai smoothie with whip and it was delicious!! I've always been a huge fan of chais, but this definitely hits the spot! I also love that they put a chocolate coffee bean on top of my drink! Additionally, the girl who took our order was super friendly (didn't get her name), and the best surprise of all was finding out that the car in front of us at the drive-thru paid for both mine and my friend's drinks!!! ❣️ I absolutely love when people pay it forward, on top of having a great experience at a new place! I went to this place on a whim and boy did it make my Favorites List! The service, the drinks, and the food are fantastic (not to mention their mission to help the coffee source community)! Keeler and Hazel were so friendly and knowledgeable about the company history, mission, and products. I ordered the iced Snowy Mocha (white chocolate mocha), iced Mexi Mocha (like an iced Mexican hot chocolate), Banana Nut Muffin Top, and Cream Brûlée Muffin Top.

The drinks were good, came with a chocolate covered espresso bean on top and just what I needed on a hot Arizona morning. It could have used a better stir to mix flavors but a quick swirl every now and then worked out just fine. The muffin tops were delicious and soft.

Definitely would recommend if you are looking for something other than Starbucks and Dutch Bros. I think of this place as the...
