Rolando's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Phoenix

This place seems to be POPULAR! They were busy almost nonstop the whole time I was there, only managed to get a picture of cleared-out tables in a 3 minute window between the last people leaving and the next few groups arriving.

The prices seem very fair, maybe a dollar or so above what Filibertos would charge, but the quality of the food obviously justifies that. You can see the folks in the kitchen chopping up fresh ingredients, including chopping up whole potatoes to be used in breakfast burritos.

Incidentally, I did order the Rolando Breakfast Burrito (egg, bacon, potato, cheese), and it exceeded expectations. It was about as big as my forearm, had a truly outstanding amount of bacon, and wasn't overpowered by bland eggs, like so many other breakfast burritos I've tried. The one and only criticism I have is that they could have let the potatoes cook for another minute or two, as they weren't as soft as they should be, but it didn't stop me from loving every bite.

I didn't receive a receipt after paying for my order, which I thought was odd; I handed over the money and the cashier rang it up, then nodded at me, which I took to mean the transaction was done. Turns out, that's how they do it. No one walks away with a receipt. A little bizarre, and maybe they WOULD give me a receipt if I asked for one, but not having a slip of paper proving I paid for a single burrito isn't troubling so...eh, just making note of it.

Overal, loved the place, would definitely recommend. Next time, I wanna try their rolled tacos and rice! Because I definitely plan on there being...

The food is really good, we used to come here regularly. That is until this one employee kept cheating us on the salsas and carrots. He's usually always there in the evening wearing a hat. If you ask for six he'll give you four and if you ask for 8 he'll give you six, stuff it in the bag and if you ask for any more he gets annoyed real quick.. Even when we spend $40+ if you ask for more than one carrot bag, he'll say that he needs to charge you. Before him it was never like that. If we go in the morning and have somebody else, there is no problem they give us exactly what we ask for and do not cheat us or become super stingy. We've been coming here for years and spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the years and our bank statement can prove it. Now if we drive by and see he's working we just keep driving and just go to Filibertos. They always give us what we asked for and they never give us...

Wow! This little restaurant is wonderful! Having just recently moved here my husband and I were on the hunt for new places to eat and were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and the size of the portions! The food tastes great and we never have a complaint. The cashier was patient with us when we first tried Rolando's and helped to answer any of our questions. Every time we have gone in she has always had a smile and always makes sure the cooks do not put cheese on my food. This is a big deal for me because I am lactose intolerant and can get really ill if I have any dairy products. I am used to having to send orders back because the cheese was put on even if I asked for no cheese...I have NEVER had to do this at Rolando's and I greatly appreciate it!
