Extremely disappointed in our visit to Spinatos tonight. We drove in from San Tan Valley to enjoy some pizza and we couldn’t be more disappointed. Our first pizza was made completely incorrect, which we could understand. Mistakes happen, no big deal. They took the pizza back and brought us one made with the correct ingredients but brought it out in a to go box and set the check on the table? Ok, we had our little kids with us and maybe they thought we wanted to leave, but the problem was that we hadn’t actually eaten anything but an appetizer shared between 4 people. So we start divvying out pizza from the box and to our extreme disappointment, the center of the pizza was not done. Very doughy, not raw, but definitely not done. (I have been eating at spinatos for 10+ years and even tried like hell to have our wedding catered by them but we were getting married too far away from the closest store) This used to be our favorite pizza but it seems that too many changes have been made. The sauce tasted the same but everything else seemed different. I was going to just leave it alone, and chalk it up to the “new hires in the kitchen” that we were told about, but I was a little irritated by the response from the kitchen manager. Having our waitress come out and tell us that the pizza is cooked for 7 minutes every time and if we didn’t like that we could order it well done, just seemed a little stand off-ish. If he had just looked at the bottom of the pizza, maybe touched the dough a little, he would have realized that something wasn’t right. Again, we have been eating Spinatos for a long time and never had a doughy, mushy pizza.
I would like to note that the only reason this is a 2 instead of a 1 is because of our waitress doing everything she could to make it right, despite having to try to get the kitchen managers message across. She did a great job, was pleasant and understood how frustrating it was to drive an hour in traffic and then leave so...
Read moreTerrible Experience: FOOD POISON CITY!!!!!!
My family and I recently decided to eat at Spinatos for a special occasion, and what a catastrophic mistake it turned out to be. The ambiance was mediocre, but we were willing to overlook that for a good meal. Little did we know we were in for a night of horror.
After placing our orders, we waited an absurdly long time for the food to arrive. When it finally did, we were initially impressed by the presentation, but that's where any positive aspects of this dining experience came to a screeching halt.
The food tasted off, like it had been sitting out for far too long or prepared with questionable ingredients. Ignoring our instincts, we continued eating, only to regret it immensely later. Within hours, every single member of my family fell violently ill.
The symptoms were textbook food poisoning: severe vomiting, excruciating stomach cramps, and endless trips to the bathroom. It was a nightmare I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I can't begin to express my disappointment and anger towards Spinatos for allowing such a dangerous and unhygienic situation to occur. The fact that my family suffered because of their incompetence is simply unforgivable.
Aside from the obvious negligence in food preparation, the staff's attitude was apathetic and dismissive when we tried to address the issue.
The manager couldn’t care less about the well-being of his customers, only about making a quick buck. He was about as useful as a rain gauge in Phoenix.
Save yourself the misery and avoid this place at all costs. The risk of getting seriously ill far outweighs any potential enjoyment you might get from their lackluster food. Spinatos needs to take a long, hard look at their practices and prioritize customer safety before it's too late.
I'm very disappointed with Spinato's. I thought that it was a reputable restaurant, but I was clearly wrong. I would never go back there again, and I would advise anyone else to...
Read moreFantastic pizza, great service- but everything else was just average.
I really wanted to give this place 5 stars simply because the pizza was some of the best stuff I have had, and I (without indulging myself too much) have a very sophisticated palate. These guys know their stuff. Perfectly cooked with the right amount of cheese and sauce that complimented the dish perfectly, it was pretty much perfect pizza.
The service was awesome as well- our waitress did an amazing job, there when we needed her but did not hover. Glasses were full and recommendations and menu knowledge were stellar. The host was very accommodating and even went out if her way to snap a picture of my wife and I.
The rest of the experience was just average. We ordered the garlic bread with cheese and rather than have amazing dough like the pizza did, it was dry and slightly stale tasting american-French bread. It was nice to taste actual garlic cloves rubbed into the cheese and the parsley was colorful with a hearty and well rounded marinara dipping sauce. When I order a $6 bread however, it better be good bread and this bread, no matter how doctored up it was, was just average bread.
We also got their penne ala vodka with fennel sausage and peppers. The pasta was cooked well and the sauce was seasoned nicely but the dish was lacking flair and could have used some fresh asiago or parmiggiana cheese baked on top or reduced into the sauce because it was a nice sauce that just needed a bit more.
We ordered the cobler desert with some gelato- the gelato was awesome. Great smooth vanilla flavor but the cobler was fairly dry. When I think of cobler I'm thinking something slightly goey and messy and this was a circle of dry cake with some streusel crumbles. Just not that great.
Overall it's amazing pizza with great staff, and if you come for the pizza then you wont be disappointed, but dont veer off the menu much farther than these...
