I am giving two stars instead of one because I liked the staff here. They were friendly and some of them (especially Wendy, who unfortunately no longer works there) really tried their best to address these issues.
Unfortunately, there was just too many issues at this hotel and despite some of the front desk staff's efforts to address them, they largely went ignored by management.
I really didn't want to leave a negative review about this place because I liked the staff here. I stayed here for many months because of work. I tried to resolve these issues by emailing my concerns (along with suggestions on how to address some of these problems) to management but the problems were never addressed. They offered me a walk through of the property to go over those problems, but I couldn't do it because of my work schedule, and ultimately nothing was done about all these issues.
I'll try to keep this as brief as possible but the list of problems is pretty large:
The hotel has a serious bedbug problem. This, coupled by the inconsistent and incomplete housekeeping (such as leaving some of the bedding such as blankets and pillows on the bed unless explicitly asked not to, and sometimes even when asked not to) means that you'll be eaten alive by bedbugs. The hotel doesn't seem to employ any measures to control the infestation either.
The wifi is unusable. The signal is so bad and the connection is so slow that it can take several minutes just to open an e-mail. I was told that they were going to fix this many months ago, but that never happened.
The hotel is old, run-down and pretty filthy. I even saw cockroaches here.
Housekeeping is not reliable. They often skipped cleaning my room and falsely marked it as having cleaned despite not cleaning it. Some days they would not clean it at all, other days they would replace the towels but not touch anything else and left my bedding as it was despite nothing else being on the bed. They almost never cleaned surfaces or vacuumed the room. I lost count of how many times I had to ask the front desk after coming back from work for housekeeping because they had skipped my room, only to be told more than half the time that the housekeepers had already left and I'd have to wait until tomorrow. They also left my room door open a couple times while I was out at work. Thankfully nothing was stolen from my room.
There is a major cross-contamination problem with the food in the breakfast area. Inconsiderate guests often use the same utensils to serve themselves different foods even though there is 3 different utensils for eggs, meat and potatoes, respectively. This is a big problem for people with special dietary restrictions due to religious beliefs and allergies.
The hot water dispenser often contains cold or lukewarm water. It is not refilled/re-heated regularly enough.
Many of the rooms are in disrepair. Damaged showers, window blinds, AC/heaters and other issues.
Hotel has no laundry room, and sister property next door had old washers/dryers that did not work well. Eventually they broke down completely and were not replaced for months. I checked out of this hotel weeks ago but they had still not been replaced at the time of my checkout.
Breakfast food items like waffle batter were out of stock for months at a time. Equipment like waffle irons were out of service for weeks and sometimes months without being repaired or replaced.
Noise was a recurring problem due to inconsiderate and loud guests. One of the night staff was pretty good about resolving noise matters, but the other night staff guy was not.
Water cooler in fitness center frequently not restocked.
I feel bad leaving this review because again, I really liked almost all of the staff members here. Wendy was absolutely awesome. Trinity, Heidi, Savannah were all really friendly and helpful. I'm just upset my concerns were never addressed and I hope that maybe this review will finally push this hotel to resolve these issues. There are great people working here, but the hotel itself has a lot...
Read moreWorse stay ever. I reserved 3 rooms in this stay. We arrived and one of our room was not cleaned. I asked front desk to have a housekeeper to come and vacuum and he replied housekeeper was gone for the night. We had another teammate check-in around the same time and his room had the bed unmade. He requested another room and the housekeeper was able to clean up a room for him, but not vacuum ours. I asked for the extra blanket and pillows that are to be in the room for the pullout sofa bed. Front desk tells me they only had one pillow and had just taken it out from the dryer because they were slammed with teams reservations and were low on supplies and staff. As I walk to the laundry room I smell gas. I asked the next day because the smell became stronger. I was told by front desk that a dryer was leaking gas and they were waiting for a part to get the leak fixed🙁. The leak was not fixed during my 5day stay. The elevators kept breaking and we had to share rides because of the long wait or use the stairs. The pool area lighting was broken. We swam in the dark. You also pay $10 daily for parking, now that's a joke. The parking is not even a closed parking space anyone can come in through the side street. My child wanted hot tea and she poured hot water from the dispenser in the lobby, the water was dirty. They did not even clean the dispenser. Breakfast could have been hot breakfast. We stayed in another Hampton's Inn during the pandemic and the staff serves you hot meals. We had the same cold meal options. You had to ask constantly for service needed in the room because apparently housekeeping is done on stays longer than 7 days. We had to call to remove trash, get fresh towels, and get toilet paper which it took several calls to remind them. Wifi sucks even if promo is provided. Students were unable to complete their school assignments. Unfortunately, I have to rate this Hampton a one star for it's lack of service and hospitality. We weren't the only families upset. There were many complains. This hotel is not ready for guests during tournaments nor for this pandemic. Something peculiar did happened during my stay, we were departing and clear the room to make sure nothing was left behind. As I removed the sheets to the bed, the bed had a large pee stain 😣. I was so grossed out. All the sheets were clean but that still grossed me out. Sorry but this felt like I stayed at a motel 6 or...
Read moreNever again. I was greeted in the parking lot by a pickup truck on blocks. Place had a musty odor that I attributed to the old carpeting. I got to my room and all was fine for the first few hours. Then the stench of someone smoking started. This is the first Hilton I have encountered in at least 10 years that allows smoking. The hotel has a closed ventilation system, so there really is no escape. I have sinus allergies and listed that on my reservation, but was still put on that floor. I complain, but told there are no rooms available, but possibly one would be available in 2 days. On the morning of the 2nd day, I almost tripped on a set of bedding in front of my door. I stepped over it and went to gently shut my door. It was then that I saw something reddish-brown on the wall where the bulk of the bedding was. Food? Blood? I will never know, but I reported it to the front desk on my way out. When I came back late that afternoon, I was told that the "guest" who did that had to forcibly be removed by the police... But they did have my new room ready. No one apparently had the guts to tell me my room was downgraded (non-jacuzzi) prior to me going into the new room and complaining. I unpacked because I could not find another Hilton between Gilbert and Chandler with any availability. After unpacking, I discovered the toilet handle was broken. It was just an adjustment to the backing nut and chain length, but how did this not get noticed by the cleaning staff?! Upon check-out I was told I would be given a "generous amount of points" on my Honors account. That ended up only being 2500 points and despite the Hampton 100% satisfaction guarantee, I was still charged for my stay at the rate of the original room. There was not even an adjustment for the downgraded room that I was moved to. And there was no contact from a manager throughout all of this. That aside, this hotel is in desperate need of remodeling. The wallpaper in the hallways and rooms is peeling and I already mentioned the old carpets. I have stayed at the Hampton in Gilbert and never had a problem there beyond a single noise incident from drunk wedding guests. That place was clean and well kept. Same with the DoubleTree in Gilbert and the Home2Suites in Chandler. Would recommend those, but not this...
