This hotel was disappointing, to say the least.
The key cards kept deactivating because of "being too close to cell phones or bank cards" according to the staff. This meant that every night upon returning, we could not enter our room without going back to the front desk to recode the card. It was exhausting and frustrating.
Hot breakfast consisted of a waffle-maker and cold cereal. No hash browns, no ham, no sausage, no eggs, no omelets. I'm not kidding all they had for breakfast was bread to toast and waffle-maker, or cold cereal. By the way, they had NO butter. I double checked with the front desk and the attendant said they had ordered it but it had not arrived. So, we were treated to a choice of dry toast, and waffles with maple syrup but no butter for either, also cold cereal was available. On top of that, the waffle (once made) tasted rubbery and kind of weird. We passed on eating breakfast there after the first morning, and went elsewhere for food. Bottom line, instead of a free breakfast, we had to go PAY for breakfast every morning...an extra expense we had not counted on because of the ridiculously laughable breakfast offered.
Towels. You have got to be kidding me. We had a room for 2 adult guests and a king size bed. Our room was equipped with exactly 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel(small), and 1 dish towel(medium size). There was NO towel afforded us to step on out of the shower, so that was a big mess on the floor....right next to the undersized toilet. I went and asked for 3 more towels, and when the front desk lady gave me the extra towels she had the gall to ask me to bring her the other two when I was done showering. I was shocked, looked at her with a listless nothing face and said (lied), "you bet." No, I did NOT bring those other towels back to her....rather, I used them to stand on out of the shower and used the new ones for the showers from that point forward.
The blankets were cheap, thin, and barely suitable due to use. In fact they should have been retired 100 guests ago. The sheets were in the same abhorrent condition. The bottom sheet kept slipping off...every night...from either side of the bed, so it wasn't just one of us being a restless sleeper. The mattress was old...but I admit, we both thought it was rather comfortable. However, it was annoying to have a big sheet mess every morning.
Freshening up the room? Nope! Big Nope! The staff never entered our room even once to do so much as exchange towels, change out the bedding, or to even empty the trash. We stayed three nights and had a pile of garbage waiting for them once we checked out.
We were on the second floor so we had to use their elevator over and over. It was OLD! It was slow. It made everything more difficult.
This hotel is a JOKE! We will never make this mistake again. The hotel is run-down, the pool is a joke, the service is practically third world, and not relaxing to stay. The rooms were banged up and furniture was mildly serviceable but definitely not comfortable. It would be very much worth it, and I highly recommend that you pay an extra $50 - $75 (or more) per night to stay elsewhere! Anywhere but here!! I guarantee that you'll be $30 per night ahead just on breakfast, not to mention the extra time you will have by not having to run around town to find a breakfast, and you'll pay less for gas in your rental car to zoom around and try to find food.
Avoid the Wingate at all cost. They are cheap, and you will FEEL IT. My advice is that it's well worth it to pay a bit more and save yourself all the hassle and...
Read moreI was completely devastated with our room. We were in Chandler for my wife's Heart Surgery. We showed up for early check in. We were told that the plumber just finished working in the room. When we entered there was a drill in the sink with a sink snake attached tools on the floor and drain assembly apart. We dropped off our luggage in the room and proceeded to the hospital. I returned to the room myself at around 11pm as they kept my wife in the hospital overnight. The drill was gone but no drain stopper and sewer gas smell was bad. I put a towel in the sink to stop the gases. By morning the sewer gas smell was horrendous. I left to go to the hospital. When returning around noon we talked to the person at the desk about changing the room and the issues. She stated that she did not have the same room type as we had a premier suite, she only had a junior suite. I asked about the price difference. She told me that she will not adjust the price. While my wife waited in the car (after needing bed rest). I packed up the room as I was packing up our belongings. I took a good look at the room. No drain plug in sink, bugs in the bathroom on the floor ,black hair in tub, filthy hand print on the bathroom door, blood spot on wall by the closet, the window lock was broken and would not lock major security issue, on the ground floor with no window screen), broken glass in window frame edges, ( it looked as if this room has been broken into before, ungodly stain on the chair and literally paint everywhere. carpet, floors, furniture, toilet, desktop. We have been in the Hospitality Business for over 35 years. This room was disgusting and should of never been rented. We checked out, we originally booked for 3 days Fri-Mon. It wasn't easy to find a room at noon on Sat. We ended up paying more booking one elsewhere. My wife even had a message on her phone that the water was being turned off that Friday. At best I should receive a full refund for my 6 hrs that I was actually in the room. An apology for the dreadful experience with a Wyndham Hotel. Room 130 and if Management is interested or cares at all I have numerous photos and I have them on my phone. This is unacceptable. If I could I would give this hotel a "ZERO". **They gave me a reply Without any lack of compassion for what we endured, and the room plumbing still isn’t fixed. Lee Ann the Manager told me when I complained (about 20 min after check in they needed to get a part. She lied in her response that we never said anything until I was asking for another room. I want my money back and I will be contacting BBB and Chandler Chamber of Commerce. These managers just don’t care, once they have your money it’s just piss off. Well this is not how you...
Read moreMixed experience, but mostly fine. This is another hotel that apparently doesn't notice when its doors or walls need cleaning. I've stayed in hotels on 2 continents and this has been a problem at a TON of them (even the pricier ones!); it's not just confined to Wyndham. But it's nasty nonetheless. Bathroom door was quite gross and vents were very dusty. The bathtub was also somewhat gross. ||If not for the grossness, I would be open to staying again. But...oof. That door was nasty. ||The employees were always helpful, nice, and good-humored. You might have to wait around for a bit for the front desk person to appear if it's night-time. But they always showed up within about 2 minutes or less. ||The shampoo goes far, but bring your own conditioner if you have long hair. ||Beds were adequate and pillows were fine. Nothing special, but that's kind of expected. Their blankets kept me warm without overheating. ||The A/C worked very well. The hottest it got outside during our stay was 89F (32C), so I can't speak to how effective it'd be in the blazing heat of the summer. But it was great in February. ||Avoid the breakfast IF you do keto, have diabetes, or prefer to eat healthy--pretty much everything was packed with sugar. Definitely not vegan-friendly either. But if you're an omnivore that loves the sweet stuff, you will be fine. When we were there, they offered: apple juice, OJ, various small "muffins" (aka very dry and sugary cake in a muffin wrapper), small yogurt cups that somehow contained 14g sugar, make-your-own waffles with butter and syrup available, sugared cereals, milk, Wonderbread-style slices for toasting, grape jelly, cream cheese, bagels, pork sausage links, and eggs. The eggs were the same thing that you'd find in a Dunkin Donuts breakfast sandwich, but the hotel's eggs were actually a wee bit better than Dunkin's. Pleasantly surprising. ||The coffee was....coffee. If you like a quality cup of coffee, just go to a cafe instead. But if you aren't picky, then the hotel coffee should be fine enough. ||For lunch or dinner, there are restaurants conveniently located across the street. Or if you want to drive, there are a lot of other options too.||And a final humorous word of warning: Don't get excited if you see a sign pointing you to a sauna. Whoever ordered those signs has no idea what a sauna actually is and thinks it's the same thing as a hot tub. It....is not. I was disappointed but also amused that anyone would confuse the two. The hot tub was ok except the bubbles/jets were much cooler than the rest of the water, which kind of defeats the purpose of using a hot tub for...
