The Collins offers a beautiful setting and atmosphere to start. Hostess was super friendly and I can’t imagine any table could be a bad one as it is very well laid out. The server to start was great and suggested the Brussels sprouts which were AMAZING! If I ever decide to go back here this would be the soul reason. However that was about how grand my experience was. After that everything went downhill. After getting the cocktails which were ok the server came around far and in between. We asked for water which we did not receive until after our dinner got there. This is only because we asked for it. The water was room temperature and without ice. We live in AZ people?! I ordered another cocktail hoping this would take the edge off, a sparkling rose, what could go wrong? Again moderately cool and was warm before I could take the 3 sip. Food turned up warm and was actually flavorful. So then came time for dessert. I was hoping for the coconut creme pie. So I waited for server to come back. And so I waited. And waited. By this point I would have gone up to the server by now. However our server changed now for the 3 rd time. I actually had no idea who actually was our server. Finally one of the many servers came to ask if we wanted dessert. I declined. By this point no thank you. He then asked if we needed a box which I responded yes. Again waited for an additional 15 min. At this point we had been done with our food for 30 min. A very friendly bus staff asked if we needed a to go box. They went and came back. Finally the server came back with a to go container and saw it had been done and asked again if we wanted dessert clearing not having paid attention to my earlier response. So I asked for the check. As you can imagine I waited again for quite some time for that. With that being said I used to be a sever in college. I understand the job can be demanding. If you ask the many servers at no point would they have been able to tell you we were upset or rude. We were kind, stated our please and thank you s. Even after all of this I still left 20% because I understand we can have our off days. I didn’t expect to be checked on every 5 minutes. However when you are not that busy and I have to wait for a way longer than expected period for you to check on us and ask for another cocktail or dessert. All things that increase the bill total. Well that makes a dining experience disappointing. Will I go back more than likely no. Not worth it to me...
Read moreWe were so disappointed. We had a reservation to celebrate two birthdays last night and went in with high hopes for a great meal. We had a party of six, and only two of the meals were good. My NY strip and my husband's prime rib were really good. The roasted chicken was small and a little dry. The other prime rib ordered was overcooked. It was ordered medium, the same as my husband's, but arrived definitely closer to well done. Two pizzas were ordered, one very greasy, and the other completely unedible. I could not believe that they allowed the one pizza to leave the kitchen. It was so drowned in sauce that it looked like a mushy circle of red dough. The only meal we complained about was the pizza. No one ever asked how the other meals turned out. Our server offered a bowl of soup to replace the pizza, but it took so long for him to bring it that everyone else had completed their meals by the time it arrived. We ordered 3 pieces of pie, which all arrived at very different times. Then, one piece of tres Leche cake arrived, randomly, for the two people celebrating their birthdays. No one at our table cares for tres leche, so sadly, it went to waste, and the two people celebrating their birthdays were waiting on the coconut cream pie they had already ordered. My sister spent a good amount of her time trying to discreetly iron everything out with our waiter, and we received a pretty generic apology from a manager. All said and done, they did not charge us for one unedible pizza and the luke-warm soup to replace it. Our concensus, at the end of our visit, was the mediocre meals, and even the horrible pizza could have been overlooked if the staff would have cared a little more to get the replacement soup out promptly, and been better organized with our deserts. Unfortunately, we will not return or feel comfortable recommending this...
Read moreArizona Restaurant week has started and this is my first stop! I live in the area and knew we had some new additions, but I didn’t realize this was here until scoping out the ARW options. I did go with the $33 three course option. I added on three unique cocktails and one extra side.
Course 1 - Half Dozen of Oysters paired with Mezcal + Spice. Review - oysters were fresh, perfect size, missing horse radish and Tabasco. The cocktail was Smokey and mellow very good.
Course 1.5 - Charred Brussels Sprouts. Aka the star of the show lol. I asked for no bacon...but it definitely could have used some salt. Overall I liked how they were prepared and the presentation.
Course 2 - Wild Mushroom Lasagne paired with Vodka + Pineapple. Review - I was not extremely blown away. I think if prepared as a pasta dish with linguine this could be amazing. It was just ok. I think I’m a Vodka + Pineapple connoisseur lol. Their presentation was super sexy and the drink was bold without the taste of overly sweet pineapple juice. I liked it.
Course 3 - Tres Leches Cake paired with Bourbon + Berries. Review - the cake itself was yummyyyyy! I love fruit with my desserts so I would have love more. The Bourbon + Berries helped to offset the sweet cake. This was my favorite cocktail of the evening.
The service was great! The food was served quick and at correct temperatures. A great neighborhood restaurant. I LOVED the kitchen layout. Im a fan of open kitchens because I feel they have to be more on top of their game. Perfect for a date night and girls night out. Leave the kids home and enjoy...
