Ameri Home Cooking — Restaurant in Pike Creek, Delaware

My wife and I have been going to Cafe Americana for years and have always loved the food and service. Unfortunately this past Saturday the service was absolutely horrible. We waited over 45 minutes for our food to be served only to find out that the kitchen skipped over our order and served at least 5 other parties that had come in after us. Totally unacceptable for a place that was not even 25% full and that typically serves food in less than 15 minutes. The only positives were the food and our waitress.

UPDATE (12/19/21): I would like to update my review and upgrade the rating from 1 star to 5 stars by saying that we had a completely different experience upon going back this past weekend. The food was perfect and the waitress was courteous as per usual, but we appreciated the manager recognizing us are regulars and apologizing for the staffing shortages and other issues that contributed to our original experience. It is clear that they care about their customers hence why we have been coming here for years, and I highly recommend this location to anyone who hasn't been here yet or who hasn't been...

This is about customer service. I have placed a pickup order over the phone and was told 10-15 minutes. I was in a rush and had my girlfriend waiting for me at my house that is why I called it in. I arrived 20 minutes after my call, the waitress went to get my order, it was not even started! I could hear her tell the cooks why isn’t this done! In another language.The place was empty with a lot of workers there… she comes out smiling saying your order will be out shortly…( I knew they didn’t even start it!) after that one of the managers, I believe someone said his name was David asked if I was being helped. I explained I called in an order a while ago and they didn’t even start on it! He just says oh, and walks away. Finally after waiting for them to finish,the waitress says your order is ready. Charges me the full price and not even a sorry for the wait! Your mistakes caused me extra time that I didn’t have to waste. I would of expected the manager to at least be apologetic or find out why this happened…. I would suggest that this restaurant learns customer...

Our friend recommended Cafe Americana and we tried it for the first time today. The food was very good but the service was less than stellar. The waitress could have been friendlier & more generous with offering coffee and condiments. We had to ask multiple times for sweetener because she only gave us a limited supply at a time. I asked twice for water and she only brought me a glass of water, she didn't bring water for my husband or ask if he wanted any, so I shared my glass with him. When we were ready to leave, we had to wait awhile for our waitress. We noticed she was up at the front of the room hanging out, then took a phone call, so we asked another waitress that was near our table for our cheque, and she gave it to us. Shortly after, our waitress came over to the table and stood there with her iPad. It was uncomfortable because she didn't make it clear what she wanted and she just stayed there...we asked if she wanted payment and she said yes. It could have appeared that she thought we would skip out...
