Cafe Scalessa — Restaurant in Pike Creek, Delaware

My family and I enjoyed lunch at Scalessas today and had a wonderful time. All of the food served was cooked perfectly from the calamari, to the meatballs, and the sea bass. I couldn't have been happier with this meal, but then the waitress recommended the Lemon Butter Cake which was one of the best desserts I've ever experienced.

Our waitress did a great job of taking care of our table, however they did seem short staffed during lunch. Due to this the she was not as attentive as she could have been (not her fault). Even with this, the politeness by front staff and quality of food served is more than enough reason to come back.

For context, I'm pretty tough on restaurants and i have high expectations when going to one and this one exceeded ours. I would come back to Scalessas anytime the family wants Italian food. They're worth a try at minimum, to anyone that enjoys good wholesome food.

We visited last Saturday for the first time. They have a wide selection and you just know you need to come back to try the different dishes. The food was all delicious. The calamari appetizer and broccoli rabe were the best I have had anywhere. The garlic bread was quite good. The veal Scalessa and seafood pasta were perfectly made. The gnocchi verde was done just right. The portions are generous. The butter chocolate cake was a surprise and so was the butter apple cake. We did not try their signature meatballs but I have had them before and recommend them. Our waiter explained in detail how each dish was made and was very patient with us. I had lunch with a friend and we both really enjoyed our meals. Even though it was lunch, we ordered from the dinner menu. I had the best eggplant Parmesan I’ve ever had in my life. Cooked perfectly with the most delicious Sunday gravy I’ve ever had and the cheese… Perfection! My friend had spaghetti and meatballs with Sunday gravy, and it was absolutely delicious as well.
