Quickway Hibachi — Restaurant in Pikesville

If I could give this Japanese restaurant zero stars I would. This was my first visit to this location. I ordered the salmon with mixed vegetables and fried rice. I was presented with three small pieces of white meat. I told the gentleman who was asking how much sauce that the fish meat presented was not salmon. The guy that rung me up pulled a piece of salmon from what looked like a refrigerated prep area and said we get a large piece of salmon and cut it up. My response was yes, that is salmon, look at the color, thickness and how the fish meat is layered and what was being served to me was not salmon. There is know way that my order and the two orders in front of me are the tail end of the salmon, please note that each order had three pieces of fish. He assured me that it was salmon. We went back and forth a few times. I told him to refund me my money. I believe that a white fish, probably tilapia was being served. This fish was white, and thinly cut. I’ve prepared a variety of fish, including salmon, haddock, cod, flounder, halibut, tilapia and etc. so I know what these fish look like when prepared (baked, pan seared and fried). After questioning what I was being served the two who were in front of me looked at their food and one said, “this is tilapia”. As I headed out they were heading to the register. The reason for my review is to inform individuals who patronizes this restaurant know that they may not be getting what they paid and you have the right to speak up when you are being taken advantage of. It made me ask myself if they doing this to everyone or a selected group? Wondering why I didn’t tell them to prepare me the salmon that was pulled from the prep area, my teenage boys were waiting in the car and I didn’t want them to...

I have been coming to this location, religously, once a week for the past year. There seems to be new ownership, and I witness several questionable events while ordering take out.

I ordered take out for my lady and I. I requested and paid for extra protein in my order of salmon. I was given 3 pieces of 1 oz salmon. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, I was given an extra oz of salmon. 4 oz of salmon is a normal serving of any type of protein. They tried to play me and break the 1 oz piece up to make it look like more. I called them stingy to their faces.

That's not even the crazy part. The line chef was moving the plastice food cartons down the line with his cooking utensils, and went straight back to cooking.

That is not even the crazy part. I was there at the end of the day. They were missing orders, and filling incorrect orders. I realized they were new to this, and had some empathy. In hindsight even more reason to leave this review.

Thats. not. even. the. crazy. part. I saw one of the line chefs refill the rice cooker with contents from a black plastic garbage bag. What!? The white rice I was served was tough, luke warm, dry like its been sitting for a white.

If the food was good, anything close to what it was when the chinese family ran it. I would not complain. If I got 5 oz of salmon on an extra salmon order, I would not complain....

You know those places at the mall that will serve you Teriyaki Chicken or Beef over a bed of noodles or rice, choose an extra side, etc? This is one of those places, just not in the mall.

The food is hot and the portions are reasonable, I guess, but their customer service is poor at best. The person at the counter can communicate with you just enough to take your order, which is great until you have a problem with your order or need a refund.

Several bad experiences here. Once we found a bone in our food, to which we were asked why we were showing the staff of the facility. Another time we ordered in advance and they did not make the order. Then, they gave us every excuse in the book: asked us if we ordered it from the right location (we did), said they could not refund without calling the main office (which was a chore and a half), said they could not simply make the order when presented with an order number and an amount... what a nightmare!

Maybe if these guys can get their game straight we'll be back, until then we'll just actually go to a mall. It's cheaper there and they give you a...
