Disappointing Dining Experience with Server Carlos at Pinecrest Location

My recent visit to the Pinecrest location of Mister 01 was unfortunately overshadowed by an exceptionally poor service experience. From the beginning, our server, Carlos, displayed a lack of professionalism and attentiveness that significantly detracted from our meal.

When we noticed that the burrata ball was missing from our Marcos Pizza, we brought it to Carlos’s attention. Rather than providing clarification or offering a solution, he responded with an unprofessional attitude, insisting that the burrata was already on the pizza. Having ordered this pizza for takeout before, I knew this was incorrect and politely explained that the burrata is typically served on the side. Carlos, however, remained dismissive and condescending, responding with a curt, “No, it’s not.”

Throughout our meal, Carlos’s absence was conspicuous. We had to seek assistance from another staff member just to receive our ordered beverages. It wasn’t until a different manager arrived to clear our table that anyone inquired about our dining experience.

Such disregard for customer service is particularly disappointing in an industry that thrives on customer satisfaction. It’s clear that Carlos would benefit from significant training in both interpersonal skills and product knowledge. The decline in service quality across Miami restaurants is concerning, and experiences like this only reinforce this negative trend. It’s crucial that establishments like Mister 01 prioritize staff training and development to ensure a positive customer experience.

Although I plan to continue dining at Mister 01, I would prefer a different server in the future. Carlos, when a customer inquires about an ingredient or add-on, it’s essential to provide a complete and accurate response. Instead of simply saying “no, it doesn’t,” take the opportunity to inform them that when dining in, the burrata is served on the pizza. You could also suggest an add-on. Additionally, it’s important not to take interactions personally; ensure that you check back with the table throughout the dining experience and properly serve all ordered items. I went to have dinner with my husband and a close friend of ours. We were welcomed very warmly and immediately received attention. We love the story of the founder of Mister O1 and how he had a vision and a passion and it shows to this day. I am from Switzerland and had the Margarita because it is the best pizza when done right. And boy was it done right, it reminded me of the Margarita I ate when visiting Milano, the crust was so thin and the flavor was clean and fresh! We also had the Coffee Paola, which, yes there is coffee grounds almost as in place of pepper sprinkled on top and it was an absolute palet pleaser! Aside from the delicious food we very much enjoyed the very kind and charming staff who made us feel as we are being welcomed by old friends and family! Shea was so warm and so knowledgeable about Mister O1‘s story and vision and is allover a very wonderful person. Of course, Miguel, thank you for my teddy bear hihi, thank you for your hospitality and making us feel special and to the chef, I will wear stretchier clothes...

I’d been wanting to try this place out for a while now, so I finally made the trip. The place isn’t huge but they make a few tables fit. Luckily when we got there on a Saturday night we were able to get a table right away. Carlos. F was our waiter, he was really nice and helpful. He went through the menu with us and accommodated our needs. Only thing I didn’t like was how close the tables are to everyone else and the staff.

We got the Burrata first which was delicious! It comes with the Burrata, tomato slices, arugula (which had the perfect hint of salt and olive oil mixed), and a few pieces of rosemary focaccia bread. For pizza we ordered the Star Beckham which was also delicious. It’s a 13in pizza (8 small slices) so for myself and someone else was perfect to share. They also placed this spicy Italian oil olive that was soo good! Nice kick to the pizza ;) And for dessert we got a small Nutella pizza with banana slices, and it was sooo good!
