Quan Ngon Bistro — Restaurant in Pinellas Park

So we drive 3 hours to come here to try new Vietnamese buffet because we saw on Facebook advised. But when I come the place is very small for buffet . My kids was super hungry so they eat fried rice and Chinese noodle . My husband got the beef pho which only have noodle and a piece of beef , broth is no flavor . I walked around to look at the food . I can’t recognize which one is for hội a chicken or bun đậu mắm tôm or whatever they call . To me it look like trash , and the plastic place ? Plastics cup isn’t organized. So I asked the lady if I can order the inside kitchen food and she said no because buffet time , she asked me to walk around and look , I said I did and I don’t like it so I’m just wait for my kids to finish and leave then she offer me Vietnamese pancake ( bánh xeo) and bring it out for me , to be honest , who the hell eating bánh xèo with these vegetables? But I’m still eat little bit to see how it’s taste ( only one piece of shrimp in the pancake and that’s it ) the picture we took is 2:38pm , I’m feeling like we’re eating at Chinese buffets even worst , fly is everywhere , my husband get some snail but it’s look over cooked and burn and cold and dry , so we paid $89 something $29/ each person and 1 kids $19. During that time I saw other family coming wall around and they don’t like the food and left . We was rush to gas station to buy Pepcid medicine because my stomach start painful and vomiting and I decided to post the review . After couples hours the owner post a comment and try to say it’s our fault or I’m telling the false . So I don’t answer them and then she start message me privacy and I blocked her . . I’m feeling very annoyed because I’m a customer I have the right to post a review on my own opinion. If you don’t like you can report my review . Why are you trying to bothering my life ? I saw the other customer also post 1 star review why don’t you go and ask them ? If you’re doing good your business will do well dude . If not I just give you an advice to fix the problem. This is why the Vietnamese can do big thing . Or is there a rule that we can’t give one start to all Vietnamese restaurant? If you’re keep doing that I’ll report to...

Came with extreme reservation due to the rating and reviews but glad I didn't let that deter me!

FYSA - the business is under new management and a LOT of the bad reviews for this place is based on service. I'd say, do NOT pass up this restaurant due to that. We had good service and no issues.

Onto the food - came on labor day Monday and while quite a few of the items we wanted to try were out, the items we did get didn't disappoint. Got the bun dau and husband got the pho suon (beef rib). Bun dau was DELCIOUS! The mam tom (dipping sauce) was super tasty and with bun dau, it's all about the sauce! For those who don't know what mam tom is, it's a fermented fish paste so it's an acquired taste but if you love it, you'll love theirs!

Husbands pho was flavorful and rich without giving you the post-pho slumps from excessive msg. Two hearty beef ribs to top it off.

Ca phe sua da (vietnamese iced coffee) was fantastic with the perfect mix of strong and sweet.

First timing having sua bap (corn milk) since my friend raves about it, and it was good, reminds me of Che bap (corn dessert) but thinner.

The only negative would be the excessive flies. We're in FL so I get it, but constantly batting away flies was super annoying.

I'd definitely come back to try these items and others!

Would highly recommend the new owners bring back some of the nha trang specialties like the nem nuong nha trang with the shrimp dipping sauce that is customary with nem nuong from that region and the banh beo! Those were some of the items I specifically drove there for and would happily drive from Wesley Chapel on a whim for....

I rarely leave review about restaurants but after a bad experience I have no choice to write my honest opinion here to save other customers some headache. Stopped by this place for lunch on Sunday, we had four people, two adults and two kids, ordered one appetizer, three dishes and two drinks, and here is what happened: after ordering about 20’, they brought us a to go bag and told us that’s our order. We told the waitress that we dine in, not to go. She apologized and disappeared for another 20’. After another long wait, they only brought out my husband’s dishes. 15’ later they brought out ANOTHER TO GO BAG and said our order is ready. We had to explain that’s not our order again. My food finally came after another 10’, but only mine, not my daughter’s order, and by that time, there was still neither drinks nor appetizer. Also, if you ask for anything extra, waitress will tell you that they’re too busy and likely will forget which they did. After being there for more than an hour since the first dish came out, my daughter finally got her order. Drinks and appetizers were brought out last after we’re about to leave. During that time, they brought some else’s orders to our table TWICE. Had to tell them they got wrong stuff again. Waitresses were so disoriented and didn’t know what to do. Food is also below average. Look really nice on the picture but don’t taste good. They try to make some Vietnamese local delicacies but nowhere near close in quality.
