My first encounter with Sonic Drive-In, a quick lunch stop on our way home, proved surprisingly engaging. Taking the wheel made the drive-in experience feel entirely new. While the traditional menu board felt overwhelming, the mobile app offered a much smoother way to navigate and order. I was a little disappointed to miss out on the roller-skating servers I'd heard about, but during the quiet lunch hour, I understood the practicality.
The real standout of my visit was the exceptional service from one staff member, who I suspect might be a manager. Her attentiveness and genuine warmth reminded me of the friendly atmosphere you find in a great local diner. Honestly, her service alone made the stop worthwhile. While I gather a late-night visit might be more lively, the efficient and friendly service I received during this quieter time definitely left a positive impression.
The food itself was really good for it being fast food and while my husband took the opportunity to indulge, I tend to follow a ketogenic diet and low carbohydrate lifestyle, But with the offerings of their menu, it is easily possible to make your own substitutions or even ask for them and still enjoy the menu as it was meant to be wall cutting out unnecessary carbohydrates and sugars.
I will say in closing that wall it was a positive experience and I did enjoy the food and the overall price itself was fairly positioned for nearby competition and the actual quality of the food you're getting, in my opinion, if I had the time, I would have driven a little bit further and ordered the same sort of items from Steak & Shake instead. This is just a personal preference and I feel their quality of meat and The taste profile is a little bit higher quality. Otherwise it's a very hard comparison to make because they're almost identical.
Whether you're dining solo, with family or friends or looking to have a night out with a big crowd that has as diverse a taste in food as they may in other areas. Sonic Drive-In is a safe bet for the offerings available on their menu in giving anybody options for something they would enjoy weather a small child or elderly adult and everywhere in between.
So in closing, I do have to say that I recommend Sonic Drive-In, especially this location in particular for the great service...

We drive up to the speaker at the drive thru, and someone announced, "It'll be a minute before we can take your order." Five minutes later, and someone taking a break noticed the drive-thru lane was getting long and asked us. "Is someone helping you?" We explained, and he said he would go find out what's going on. Then someone over the speaker says, "Is someone out there?". Yeah... Then, as we were ordering, they kept asking what size we wanted and couldn't even remember what we said and repeated back to us the wrong size. Let alone we couldn't tell if they were talking to us or a customer inside (who's order we can hear through the speaker). On top of that, one of the things Sonic is supposed to be known for is their shakes...not today I guess... I ordered a Sonic Blast, and their response was, "Do you want a Slushie?", Nope...Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Their response, "We are out of Chocolate Chips." My response, "OK, I'll take Reese's." Their response, "Well, it's going to take some time for the ice cream to warm up." Yeah, you read that right. Don't lie and try to offer me something completely different... Now we get to the window and pay, then wait some more. Someone then opens the window and says, "Is someone helping you?" My response, "Yes, we are waiting for our food." This person then hands us one bag and says, "Here you go." Our response, "That can't be it. There has to be another bag." They say it is and proceeds to read off our receipt... then says oh here's your other bag... All of that took roughly 30 minutes, and there was nobody in front of us. There was so much more to this experience I left out trying to keep it short. We ordered 2 meals, 2 Buffalo Chicken dip bites, and an extra tater tot. I'll write it again... no wonder there's only 3 left in the Bay Area. Step it up, District. Your marketing team got us to take a 20-minute trip to a fast food chain. Read moreThis location is hit or miss. Sometimes you get great service more often no. I order off the app to get half off drinks for my family. Its a feeqt price and they are really good. We normally order the real fruit strawberry slush or coconut slush. It should be a pretty easy process. The past few times have not been. We have had not all the way filled drinks several times. We have received drinks that had spilled slush outside the cup and were sticky. We have ordered food off the app and also just driving up to the stall. The servers are normally unfriendly and have bad attitudes. Our last order we did have a nice gal who was sweet and brought the order out quickly. You normally go to the window and pick up your order because you order ahead of time. A few orders ago we had one of the servers yell at us and others that they were not doing stall orders. They closed all stall orders. I have never seen that. I told her that we ordered through the app and were already checked in with the stall number. My name was on the screen. she said very rudely, "ok wait." We waited for like 18 min until they finally brought it out. We only ordered 4 slushs and it wasnt busy. I do not care for this location but will continue to order and pick up from here because my kids love the slush. It is the closest Sonic to us. I think management needs to hire some new employees with better work ethic and make sure to do better training. Ok update. Visiting today Friday July 21st. I waited 20 min this time. My name was up on the screen with my order. I didn't want to complain after waiting 15 min. Then all of a sudden my name disappeared and went to press the button for service they said we are not taking stall orders. I said my name was up on the screen and did a app order.
