Stopped by this little place on a whim, and I’m so glad I did. It reminded me of going back in time to the old lunch counters and sandwich spots of the 80’s that my mom would take me to. Signs say they’ve been in business 43+ years and I know why. A simple sandwich menu, daily specials, with super fresh ingredients, lots of regulars, and a homey feel you just can’t fake. The lady who took our order was busy, but made our sandwiches with care, was attentive to us and the other waiting customers. I really like how they slice everything super thin, including the veggies. My picky 6 year old ate every bite and has asked when we will go back to “Mom’s backyard” so that’s the real review right there. My recollection 35 years later, is that I was a senior in high school just a mile or so up the road looking for a place for lunch one day with a friend saw the sign and knew that we couldn't not try a place with that as the name. Since then I've lived in Tallahassee, in Key Largo and numerous other places around the state of Florida yet I always find myself whenever I can coming back to your mother's backyard for great food. Happy 35 years in service, here's to the next 35. Even if they're pushing me in in a wheelchair...
