We went here last night to celebrate Cinco Dr mayo. What a complete disappointment to our palates. Was told pork is shreaded before ordering our food. We ordered and shared the gordido burrito but asked for adjustment in their standard recipe. We asked for bean, rice and lettuce to be on side, not inside because I don't eat rice, date doesn't eat beans and lettuce inside a burrito would just wilt assuming food is served at a proper temp we also asked for sauted onions and peppers to be inside burrito. We also asked for a warm verde sauce for top of burrito. We ordered an app of garlic shrimp to start. Shrimp was in a tomato based garlic sauce, more like a soup that was delicious. We asked for a spoon to not leave a drop. So amazingly tasty! We then received our burrito that we were sharing. We cut it to share and were so disappointed by our findings. We could not even identify what the cubes of meat were in this burrito as we were chewing it. Burrito came with no peppers or onions inside and as we are more found beans were inside as well. My date was not happy and doesn't complain, but I told waiter problem and told him we were working on picking beans out but that there also were no onions or peppers inside. I did not suggest returning it but neither did waiter. I called over manager and expressed my concern of no flavor to cubes tasteless pork, was told recipe had been changed. Explained about order not being correct but that we ate it, thankfully we covered burrito in sauce from shrimp and guac and sour cream and salt to give it some flavor. It was after 9pm, we were hungry! Date hates to complain. Manager asked us to come back and give them another try. I said I'm not really sure. Burrito was 16.99! We continued talking and said ok maybe we will try it again, maybe it was a bad night. I asked manager for a card or something for a possible return trip, thinking he would comp us for all the disappointment in at the very least a future drink. We had a beer and mango margarita $5 cinco special each. Drinks were good. Manager came back with a business card and nothing offered for a return visit! Very disappointed! Very unprofessional as far as problem and no compensation. We paid full bill, and left card on table. I didn't write a review card but should have. Figured I would handle it here after already speaking to...
Read moreTook my wife here for a birthday dinner and it was absolutely awful. Waited about 15 minutes just to see someone after being seated. A further 20 minutes for the drink(margarita) to arrive and they said the bartender was backed up. The restaurant was maybe 25% capacity, not busy at all. 9 pm. When the margarita arrived my wife said she was pretty sure there was 0 alcohol in it, the server didn't ask if she wanted salt or ice in it, neither of which were. The drink itself was crazy small for $12, like 3 gulps.
We had jalapeno poppers, queso/chorizo dip and a quesadilla and they were awful as well. The queso was really watery, runny, and bland. It was listed as "with chilis, jalapenos and chorizo." There was a lump of chopped veg in the middle, and two literal slices of chorizo thrown in, not ground or minced at all which makes no sense. It had zero heat at all, and just tasted bland. Jalapenos are spicy to my wife and she felt nothing.
There wasn't even enough chips served to eat the queso, and the ones that were served were crazy thick, hard as hell and old, cold, and stale. We asked for fresh chips and when those came they were better, but still not good.
Jalapeno poppers were just meh, nothing special but no complaints really.
The quesadilla was awful, I'd have preferred Taco Bell. It was once again bland, had undercooked onions in it, and barely enough cheese to keep the ingredients from falling out. I tasted no seasoning whatsoever.
After one complaint we were upset and just wanted to go somewhere else so we paid and left. Absolute joke considering the name is literally tequila and tacos, you'd think they'd at least put tequila in the margarita and have a decent queso, chips, and quesadilla. Will definitely...
Read moreTo start off my review, I will say I have been here at least two times so I could really get the feel of the place.
First visit: Server was great. She told us the specials and was very attentive to our table. She deserves five stars.
Second visit: We were celebrating the birthday of someone in our party and of all the dishes that was not put in, it was the birthday girl (we explicitly stated before and during the order that it was her birthday). In addition, after asking the server for more time to look at the menu to order food, he didn't come back until we had to flag him down (this was ~30-45min later). This is why it was so surprising that one of our orders was missing since we had to personally get his attention and we called in advance to prepare them for the large party (was supposed to be 11 people, turned out to be 6) that would be showing up (which they did do!).
After this occurred, he eventually remembered it was the girls birthday (not sure if he remembered or the older gentleman handing out drinks reminded him) in our party and brought her a dessert. It was very nice, but she just wanted the burrito she ordered (it was too late in the night to order it again, so she grabbed an appetizer). This waiter I would have rated 3 stars.
Overall: It's an okay place. If I was with a group of people who would be more upset at their waiter forgetting an order when they wrote it down and the place was fairly empty, I would not go here. But if you want a relaxed night out, with the chance of some hiccups occurring, I would...
