Food Bazaar Piscataway — Local services in Piscataway Township

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Food Bazaar located at 581 Stelton Rd, Piscataway, New Jersey, regarding a distressing experience I encountered on August 2nd, 2025, at approximately 7:45 PM.

That evening, my husband and I stopped directly in front of the store entrance when my 1-year-old daughter suddenly began to vomit profusely in the back seat. I was visibly distressed and focused on helping my sick child when a Spanish-speaking security guard approached me and asked that I move the vehicle. I calmly explained that my daughter was ill and asked for a few minutes to tend to her.

To my surprise, the guard returned less than a minute later, once again insisting that I move the vehicle—despite clearly witnessing a medical emergency involving a toddler. At that time, the parking lot was only about 10% occupied, with no vehicles nearby.

This conduct was not only insensitive but also inhumane. As a mother, I felt helpless, disrespected, and unfairly targeted during an already stressful and urgent situation. Following this interaction, I attempted to enter the store and found it closed—even though the posted hours stated the store closes at 10:30 PM, and it was only 7:45 PM.

No individual—especially a parent caring for a sick child—should be treated with such disregard and lack of compassion. I am deeply disappointed by this experience and urge the Better Business Bureau to investigate this matter and hold Food Bazaar accountable for both the staff’s conduct and the misleading store hours.

Wide selection of products, both domestic and international. Spacious layout, similar to Stop and Shop, making it easy to navigate. Professional and courteous security guard who greeted me and answered my questions, providing a welcoming presence. Cons:

Customer Service: Overall lacking in professionalism. Few staff acknowledged me, and when they did, the response often felt dismissive. Language Barrier: As an English speaker, I found communication difficult when questions were answered in another language. Ambience: The loud music was distracting and, in my opinion, not well-suited to a family-oriented setting. Fragrance Overuse: Strong perfume near the food aisles can be overwhelming and may interfere with the shopping experience. Employee Conduct: Some staff appeared disengaged, using their phones instead of attending to customers. Signage: Clear, large signage from the previous store was missed. Current signs are small and hard to read, making it difficult to locate items. Professionalism: Overall customer service feels lacking; staff didn't appear attentive or approachable, which detracts from the shopping experience. Dress Code: Uniforms and presentation appeared informal, contributing to an unprofessional atmosphere. The security guard’s professionalism was a high point, but his presence felt unnecessary given the generally safe neighborhood. My experience left me missing the consistency and reliability of Stop and Shop.

First they need to be more specific about how empty water bottles can be returned apparently their ticket machine is out of service & they expect you to purchased your next water bottles at the time you make all your returns but no where does it specify that it has to be same day purchase & a toddle age supervisor wasn’t even trying to even write up a receipt or some sort of return bottles exchange for my next purchase of water, So now I only did not get any help from the supervisor I also walked away without my food shopping I needed for my weekly meals I definitely will go to ShopRite for all of my groceries needs because Customers Services count & my big Hispanic family & will encourage ppl to stay away from non professional customers services places like this newly opened place which clearly has a lot of improvement to make I wanna thank Andre the supervisor for this very unpleasant experience today.
