Roots Natural Kitchen — Restaurant in Pittsburgh

I ordered (via uber eats) a create your own bowl. The bowl arrived missing the chicken, mushrooms and cheese. I double checked my order and verified that I did indeed order all of those ingredients. I reached out to Uber eats and the only thing that was offered was to refund the money for the missing items. Because I was at work (a 12 hour shift) and needed more than just kale and rice, I called the restaurant to order just a side of chicken. I was told that it is not possible to order just a side via the app or over the phone. In order to order a side, I must go into the restaurant to order. I explained that I was at work and cannot leave to go in to order. I was told “sorry. Have a nice day”. I would have thought that since it was Roots’ mistake, they would be able to accommodate somehow. There was no attempt to offer a resilution. Roots used to one of my favorites as the food has always been very flavorful. However, after consuming the kale and rice, I wasn’t impressed with the flavor. I took a Lyft from the VA hospital to the restaurant. I honestly could have walked. I did opt to walk back.

This place is in trend and similar to any bowl restaurant you have ever dined at. I ordered one of their popular bowls. The food was very tasty. I really enjoyed every bite. My only complaint would be that the chicken was over cooked, and as a result a little dry.

Please note that the dinning area is downstairs. It's a small space, and admittedly I was not a fan of the smell. Not sure what it smells like, but just not fresh.

Regarding service: A+++++. It was the cashier for me! I wish I would have grabbed her name because she deserves a raise. Her personality was so bubbly and she really seems to like what she does. Her energy is so contagious. If you are hav ing a bad day, interacting with her will be a guaranteed way to make it better.

You must check this spot out for fresh and tasty food complimented by stellar service. Honestly, the female cashier makes up for the other staff providing...

Disappointed with My Order – Missing Chicken & Small Portion Despite Instructions

I usually enjoy Roots, but this delivery experience from the Pittsburgh location was really frustrating. I ordered two bowls, and both had issues that made the meal underwhelming.

First, my El Jefe bowl was supposed to include chicken, but there was none at all in the bowl I received (see photos). That’s not just a missing topping—it’s a major ingredient in the dish, and it really threw off the balance and heartiness of the meal.

Second, the second bowl was labeled “make sure bowl is big size” right on the packaging—but it was clearly a small portion (you can see the difference in the photos). It didn’t even come close to what I expected when paying for a large.
