A fall from grace. When I first started going here several years ago, I always had a pleasant experience and spoke highly of this establishment. However, over the last 6-9 months my experience has left much to be desired.
We ordered a wide variety of dishes and appetizers through their very own website - not a third party service mind you. To keep my disgruntlement brief, they had issues properly fulfilling my order.
I ordered rangoons, honey walnut chicken, szechuan chicken and ginger chicken… what I received was a miss-mash of entrees. I somehow was not charged for the rangoons but instead a type of dumpling (I went back to make sure I selected rangoons, and I did), and did not receive the honey walnut and ginger chicken. Instead I received 3 szechuan chickens. I immediately called to notify them of their error and while they were kind enough to refund me my money, the disappointment and ruined Christmas dinner could not be undone.
In an attempt to salvage a ruined holiday meal, I decided to eat one of the szeuchan chickens… the chicken was soggy and soaked in grease. A few bites and I’d had enough for the night. Not to mention the carry out bag had a spill from a loose container lid.
Now I was disappointed, annoyed and left hungry due to their inattention to detail.
I hope they can get back on track, this establishment used to be one of the best in the city. However, as they stand now, they are a shell of their former glory.
UPDATE: I never received a refund, poor food quality and...
Read moreI used to love this place. However, after a few of my recent experiences, I have to say I will never go back to this restaurant. The quality of both the service and the food went downhill pretty quickly recently. Honorable mention to the lady owner--extremely rude and calculated. I ordered what they called boiled fresh fish. Very overpriced, but I figured if I can get the good food, I don't mind paying the price. When I got the dish, yes, it looked good on the first look. I mean "on the first look". The first few pieces of fish tastes good. However, I gradually found something wrong with the dish. As a person who grew up eating seafood, I can almost immediately tell whether the food was fresh or leftover. It turns out that in order to save money, they mixed left over fish with fresh fish!!! I talked to the waiter he was very apologetic. The lady owner was a different story. She later came over with strong attitude and refused to admit and apologize for the poor quality of the food. They gave me a $20 coupon as some compensation and acted like that was all they can do; however, I later found out that for customers who spent over $50 they all get the $20 coupon automatically!!! From the personality of the lady owner and the shady stuff they did I guess you can already tell what kind of restaurant it is and why there were so many 1-star reviews recently. I will never go back to this place and hope the future customers will avoid this...

It’s truly a dining experience. It has a longish menu that one can enjoy over several visits, as I (and few colleagues) have done. None of that horrible greasy salty sugared Americanized Chinese-like food that is so common. Savor the true Szechuan cuisine: silken sauces, spices and different peppers, tender juicy meats, fresh vegetables, various rich textures.
Recommendations as of August 2022: Bokchoy & black mushrooms, Sichuan eggplant, Spicy Lamb in a pot (silk sauce with vegs & lotus roots), Kung Pao Chicken (crunchy with kick), King Mushrooms with basil (“meaty” vegetarian in a well balanced light sauce), Cumin Lamb (it literally wakes up the palate, uniquely dry sautéed that goes with any sauced veggie entree), my favorite so far: Crispy Pork Shoulder, amazingly tender meat with skin falling off the bone and a rich sauced mixed veggie) — And yes don’t forget the hot black, which freshens the palate between bites from different dishes.
Large servings, best shared between 2-3 people, OR take home for another meal.
Very highly...
