Wife and I were traveling through and found them as one of the few places open for food on easter. As soon as we sat down at the bar a guy behind the bar approached us and seemed incredibly drunk. He tells me they're out of the local IPA I ordered and tries to convince me that yuengling is technically local even though they're nation wide. I just got a water. I finally ordered and joked with the the kitchen staff a little bit. They were nice, but looked like they were absolutely over dealing with them. After a while a woman came up to check on us and she was nice, just seemed like she had a lot on her plate because of the other guy. All of a sudden the guy has a whole table of women screaming at him about something. and he wasn't letting whatever it was go. It seemed like there was about to be a fight. We told the woman their that we'd just take our food to go (if we hadn't already ordered we'd have left).
The group came up the counter to pay the woman because the guy apparently wasn't handling it. The one paying was ranting about how the guy was drunk and she could smell it and how she'd be back in the morning to speak with a manager.
After they had left, he handed us our to-go food, I asked him how much we owed him and he's like "well according that table we don't know what we're doing here" then went on what seemed like a mildly racist tangent about how this used to be the projects and "some people" still "expected everything to be free" and was complaing about how they were trying to just walk out without paying for a $130 check (that did not appear to be the case. as they were sitting calmly waiting until he went up to them), and was overly complaining about that table. I worked in service industry for 12 years and none of this conversation/interaction we had with him was an acceptable way to treat/talk to guests.
Left a pity tip because I felt bad for the woman working and the kitchen (hopefully they split tips), Left and went to a nearby park with our food. It was good! The only complaint is there was no salt on the fries!
The place has great reviews overall so it was unfortunate that our last night here was our only experience with it. Everyone was friendly just seemed over dealing with this guy. I come from a family that struggles with addiction / alcoholism, and I hope that guy gets any help and...
Read moreI was sooo excited when I heard they were opening, because I am a fan of Sidelines, but an East Sider, so it was great knowing I could get good food closer to home (same owner) I have been going to this resturant from the first week it opened. I remember the resturant being empty for several months as a clientele was established, but happily spent my money on a weekly basis to support it. I have been going to wing night on Mondays since its inception. However, I am not going back or supporting this place anymore and have told my friends to do the same because of the treatment I recieved from the chef. The waitress brought my wings out and I remarked how they had no sauce on them. (I wish I had taken a picture.) They were dry and had spots of sauce but were not covered by any means. The waitress actually admitted that she said something to the chef before bringing them out and he told her to bring them out anyway. She apologized and took them back. Imagine my surpise when this man came to my table and told me that my wings had enough sauce on them. I told him I disagreed and showed him. He was mean and nasty placing his finger on the table as he speaking, told me I had to pay for extra sauce, etc. I am so glad my husband was not with me, because to be quite honest, there was no way he would have spoken to me that way if I was sitting with a man. He was HOSTILE, and ended the conversation by telling me, "There is enough sauce on there because I'm the chef and I said so." I could not believe it. At no point was I rude. This new chef has cost this place tons of business from me, and my friends, and family. What kind of "chef" tells a customer how he/she wants their food?? If you want to eat sauce-less wings from a rude chef, this is the...
Read moreI was very disappointed. I have been here like 4 or 5 times and the food and atmosphere has been good, but I took my friends who took my word on choosing dinner here on Sunday night and we had actual bad time.
I ordered one of the specials (1/2 rack of ribs) and it was overcooked - after trying my dish I sat there and didn't eat it, and at the end of the meal I sent it back and didn't even order anything else.
One of my friends ordered another special (pulled chicken sandwhich) and while edible, it was very dry and not enjoyable like it should have been.
The other in our party got the salmon, which I have had before and really liked - despite not liking salmon typically - and they asked her what her preferred cook was (temp and seasoning) and they didn't follow those instructions.
The concept includes and open cooking area in the center of the restaurant and we could see the chefs there texting.
Our waitress (who never told us her name at all) stopped at our table like a total of 3 times, close to an hour apart. When she sat some of our items down on the table she also had her vape in her hand..
We sat without water while we tried to eat our overdone/dry dishes. And we never even had the opportunity to order the desserts we had planned on getting.
We had to ask another server to get the girl back to our table in order to issue our check.... and the other waitress said ours was supposed to be in shift lead/ in charge.
I don't know that I'll be back anytime soon, my friends probably won't either since it was not a trustworthy...
