We love condado. We go there often, there’s one near my house and one near the office and we’ve frequented both. So when my office had all of our out-of-town sales and tech team in town, we decided that we’d order our team lunch from condado. I selected delivery - which I’ve never done before. Even called the week prior to ensure that we had it all squared away. I used the handy dandy group order feature so everyone could do the hard work themselves and submitted it two days in advance. Our group order totaled around 21-22 lunches and some extras. We’re walking distance from office to restaurant but carrying that many orders might prove tricky, so delivery was a wonderful option.
One perk of submitting it online is that I can track the status. About half hour before our time selected, I see some progress. Yay! But then I see the delivery time is estimated to be about 20 minutes early. No big deal, better early than late, right? And it updated that it was being delivered by Uber. That wasn’t what I expected, but no big deal. Every 5 min or so, the delivery window shifted. Again, no big deal, because it was moving closer to our requested time. Eventually, it arrived around 5 minutes early. Everything was labeled with our names which was awesome because all tacos look the same when wrapped in foil, so big help from the restaurant staff on that point. We ended up with a giant catering bag that had maybe 4 smaller bags and 2 bags on their own.
However, I started doling out everyone’s order and we realize that some items are missing. More on that in a sec. Folks started digging in, and everyone’s meal was cold. I didn’t watch the tracking specifically, but I wonder if our order was in fact prepared when the initial time had popped up and perhaps took longer to make its way to us? It’s a brisk winter day, so an extra 20 min out and about would make a difference. Unclear. We have an office microwave to the rescue, but it was awkward with tacos wrapped in foil, and packed with guac in the box. One microwave to 22 folks is also a bit cumbersome when trying to have a group meeting, but we made do.
As we’re doing an inventory of orders, we realize a few things are missing. As I’m going to my email confirmation to check who ordered exactly what, I see an email from condado saying they noted the missing items and refunded those to our card. Both cool, because I didn’t have to call, and uncool because it was approx 6 sides (tots, two dips, two queso and chips and salsa I believe?) that were hoping to be eaten. It seems likely that the uber pickup forgot a bag. It was greatly appreciated that the restaurant noticed before I even had time to wonder. I do miss my dirty queso, sadly.
All in all, while we enjoy condado, we may stick to eating in restaurant and skipping the office lunch delivery next time. I feel like we had a tricky setup for that many lunches all at the same time and delivery on top, so maybe for a smaller group order, it wouldn’t...
Read moreUpon walking into Condado Tacos, the atmosphere is really chill and relaxed. I walked in a Monday morning, originally planning on ordering takeout but being drawn to the vibe of the place. Sitting down at the bar, I was instantly greeted by the bartender, who immeadiately grabbed me some water and gave me some recommendations for what to try.
First up, for the chips and dips section of the menu, I ordered myself a chorizo queso dip. This came out almost instantly after ordered (like 30s) so I got to work on it pretty quickly. While good, I feel like it doesn't really offer anything insane, which makes sense since its queso. I got a half size queso and it felt like it was more than enough for one person, and I love to eat!
Next up was the first recommended taco, Lucy's Fire. This taco is probably one of the best I've ever had, the roasted chicken blended in with the hard shell and fresh flavors, it felt like an insanely refreshing and delicious taco and I was very pleased with it in general. If you are coming here, I would recommend this taco, 10/10.
The second taco I tried was the braised and confused. Although it wasn't terrible, I didn't find myself near as impressed as with the first taco. I would say to me it's a pretty average taco, I think you'd be better off getting the taco I recommended prior over it. I'd give it a 6/10.
Allergies: I like to write this section for those who also have allergies like myself.
Nut Allergies: they have no nuts on the menu as of the time posting this review, so in that regard everything is totally safe. Just the standard warning that some products have a chance of cross contamination from vendors.
Shellfish Allergy: No shellfish on the menu, so no worries here.
Final Verdict: Although the Chorizo Queso and Braised and Confused was pretty average, Lucy's Fire was such a huge highlight and one of the best tacos I have ever eaten, more than enough to justify another visit for me and something I would recommend to everyone. The service was also phenomenal, with the bartender being incredibly kind and helpful! Loved the...
Read moreOn September 5, 2024, I and a guest dined at Condado Tacos located at 6210 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, following an evening of urban ballroom dance practice. This wasn't my first visit to the establishment, but it's my first review of it.
Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted by the host. However, she seated us at a table that was severely off-balance, which I immediately pointed out to her. The table wobbled so much that we decided to move ourselves to another, more stable table. It was disappointing to be knowingly seated at a problematic table without a warning or attempt to resolve the issue beforehand. Despite this awkward start, the service improved when we met our server, Sam A., who brought us water and was attentive throughout the rest of the meal.
We ordered the Swole Bowl and the Southwest Midwest Bowl, both of which were tasty and well-prepared. The food was flavorful, with generous portions of fresh ingredients. The Swole Bowl cost $12.95 and the Southwest Midwest Bowl was $10.65, so the prices are reasonable considering the quality and the portion sizes.
The restaurant itself has a fun, colorful vibe with eye-catching murals covering the walls. The decor is unique, vibrant, and a bit psychedelic, which adds to the interior and casual atmosphere. It’s a lively place that makes for a different dining experience.
The food was delicious, and our server, Sam A., provided good service. However, the initial seating issue with the wobbly table needs to be addressed to improve the overall experience for future guests. Despite this, I’d still recommend Condado for the quality of the food, its unique ambiance, and the...
