I ordered a huge feast from this place, and all of the items I got were great. It's only available for pick up or delivery. The prices are great. You'll forget about Chipotle or other chain places after you have this food. I tried the slow roasted chicken bowl with sour cream, brown rice, cheese, corn salsa, and black beans, the elote corn salad, Mexican cornbread, churro cookie, peanut butter cookie, and tres leches cake. Let's start with the entree: the roasted chicken bowl. This is just $10! That's such a good deal for the quality and is about the same price as Chipotle. You get a free sauce with your order and you can also get a side of guacamole or queso for free. The chicken was very well cooked. They included an ample amount of delicious cheese. Lots of brown rice, and some corn and beans too. Everything worked well and the meal was flavorful. I'd probably get a different sauce like the Chipotle Crema next time. The bowl wasn't entirely filled but it was an alright portion. This was my first time trying elite salad, and it was really refreshing here. Very fresh for sure. I was expecting there to be more cotija cheese like shown in the picture for this item on Uber Eats, but it was still pretty good. Not sure if I'd get it again for $5 though. The cornbread was delicious! Really cool blend of American Southern cuisine and Mexican cuisine. They give you a big chunk of cornbread! I was worried it would be too spicy, but it was actually quite mild and delicious. You should get it; it's just $3.50. On to the desserts. The tres leches was really, really good. It was soaked with lots of sweet milk, and the texture was moist. They top it with something similar to whipped cream. I really liked the extra dulce de leche surrounding the cake; it was a nice touch. The two cookies were both very good. I personally prefer the peanut butter with MnMs. The peanut butter cookie had nice streaks of creamy, high quality nut butter and tons of MnMs. The size is very large! The churro cookie had a nice cinnamon-esque flavor but couldn't really taste the dulce de leche. I will note, that when I read the descriptions of the cookies on Uber Eats, I thought they would be stuffed with liquid dulce de leche and like a chunk of peanut butter instead of just being mixed in to the dough (like, you could cut it open and peanut butter or dulce de leche would ooze out). They were still good, but I was just expecting something a little different. All in all, definitely check this place out. They serve really high quality food, and the desserts are delicious. You could make your own bowl to get the perfect meal as well. Good sides too.

Was curious about THC and finally tried it. Overall the food was good. Ordered one of their bowls. The bowl seemed fresh and flavorful. Some people mentioned the portion sizes were off. Felt that the bowl was more than generous. They did go heavy on beans and less on the meat but that is to be expected. The rice was different than many Tex-Mex or Mexican restaurants around here, but it is a positive difference. We tried both the citrus vinaigrette and the pepper crema. Both were really good. The vinaigrette was probably better suited for the bowl. The tortilla chips seems to be house made and were good. Some had decent levels of salt but overall it wasn’t too salty - which in my opinion is a good thing. Things were a bit off with the salsa and queso. Tried the verde bc of reviews —- it tasted off, one of the ingredients didn’t seem to be good it seems like if it was fresh it would have been. The container was barely filled less than halfway which at 2 oz for $1.25 that seemed steep. The roja salsa was good but the container was either not closed properly or was placed poorly as most of it spilled out. The salsas ended up not being worth it. The queso was also not great. It was so congealed when it arrived that the lid had an indentation on it. The texture seemed off even after reheating it. It also just tasted like white American cheese or something similar, no flavor or spice. Queso is the one thing you want a place like this to get right. Overall feel the salsa and queso here aren’t made for delivery which is weird for a place that is delivery/takeout only. Overall I’d still give them another chance and curious to try some of the other things on their menu.

I was excited for this, but very disappointed with my food. To start, all of the food was missing that “something” — it was all very plain and none of it was dressed up. I would have loved some more acid or fresh herbs to dress up what was clearly the most basic ingredients. The chips were whole wheat, which was fine, but not my vibe. The salsa roja tasted like old el paso and while the salsa verde suited me it too tasted like it was from a jar. The chicken in the roasted chicken bowl was a cumin bomb — it over powered the chicken completely. And lastly, the esquites/corn salad was not for me — it was too creamy (too much mayo). I only had a few bites before throwing it out. The idea of this place was good and the price was good, but I would rather just get Chipotle or Baby Loves Tacos next time.

Update Dec 2023 - The Hungry Cowgirl continues to rock my socks. Their food is great. The seitan bowl is super good, and they've added some seasonal items! If you order directly on their website the prices are better AND they have a lot of specials, so that is definitely worth checking out. They were able to deliver to me and I don't live nearby (they are in Oakland now). Cookies are phenomenal and they even have little individual holiday cookie assortments, which warms my heart. Still highly recommended. I hope the Hungry Siren will reopen soon, because that salad I got last time was amazing.

I finally got to try The Hungry Cowgirl today and really enjoyed it. I got a bowl with steak and chicken; I think one would be plenty but I just wanted to try both! I have a slight preference for the chicken but both were nicely cooked, tender, and not all dried out. I would personally love a black bean protein option, just a suggestion! My food was made correctly, including my request for half lettuce/half rice. They even sent a sample of a new salad, which was really cool. I haven't gotten to try it yet but I'll send feedback once I do. My one wish would be to have more pico in the bowl, but I didn't even ask for that, so I imagine they could fulfill that request. And next time, I'm definitely...
