I absolutely love this place. So many weird gimmicks tried and failed in this location, and The Summit proved that it wasn't a bad spot. They figured out how to make use of limited space in a prime storefront on Shiloh Ave: $14 cocktails for $10 in an open-air setting.
The first time I went there was very shortly after their grand opening. The owner made the best Negroni I've ever had (it's my litmus test for cocktail bars, so I've had a few). There is something for everyone on their cocktail menu (even Bitcoin nerds) and their classics are always on point.
Current favorites: EVERY LITTLE THING. It's fantastic. Understated sweetness is perfect, and complexity of the mole paired with whiskey is brilliant. DIZZY LIZZY is a refreshingly dry herbal citrus potion that was also noteworthy. PLEASE PLEASE ME gets a shout out because Falernum is my jam.
They also have in impressive selection of drafts and bottles of beer. I'm sure the wine is good because I trust their taste, but honestly who...
Read moreThis is my favorite spot, not just bar, in Pittsburgh. I take every person who visits here. Below is a list of the things I love about it:
-the service, everyone who works here just “gets it” ya know? They are always looking to make you more comfortable and are happy to answer whatever questions you have.
-the drinks, along with one of the best rotating draft beer menus in the city, they ALSO have THEE best rotating cocktail menu. The themes are thoughtful and hilarious (shoutout to the ITYSL and Always Sunny menus) + cater to the season.
-the food, I’ve never had anything I didn’t then recommend to 15 people the next week. The wings are always cooked perfectly, one of the best smash burgers in the city, and my favorite aioli that has a great lil kick of horseradish.
-the music, admittedly it just happens to be right up my alley. But I’ve heard The Front Bottoms played multiple times so come onnnn.
Go to The Summit, you...
Read moreWe visited Pittsburgh from Georgia and went up there on Mt. Washington via the Incline. This bar was about a block away from the Incline's upper station; it was an easy, pleasant walk even with my two small kids. Honestly we were a bit embarrassed because we were the only party with kids, and the place looked kind of far from a kids-friendly one. But our server Adrian, the hero of the night, went to the neighbor store across the street and brought us plastic cups for my kids. We were already so touched by his kindness but it was too early. Their Mac and Cheese was fantastic, and Kimchi Hot Dog was beyond perfect. (We are Korean, so we never mess up with Kimchi. So I am not joking here!) Overall, definitely an unforgettable experience at the bar. It will be the #1 place we will go back to whenever we visit Pittsburgh again!!!! Too many thanks to...
