My experiences at this hotel were excellent from beginning to end. I was overall very impressed with the staff's friendliness and how accommodating they were for our stay. I was traveling to Pittsburgh from Columbus, Ohio due to my father who suffered an accident and was in a hospital in Pittsburgh. My mother and I had 2 separate rooms and they were able to accommodate her request for a room with handicapped accessibility since she also has mobility issues. When entering the hotel, one is greeted by a very clean lobby with friendly staff to assist you. The rooms had some nice features which are helpful for those who frequent hotels. First, the television had a wide variety of channels including an easy ability to access HBO GO and Netflix. There was an on-screen guide that showed each channel and what shows were airing. Each room also had a microwave and mini-refrigerator that could be utilized by those staying at the hotel. The bed was comfortable but the mattress and pillows were very soft. I personally prefer a more firm mattress, but in no way was the mattress uncomfortable. The bathroom had a large vanity shelf to place your items on. It was stocked with Paul Mitchell soap and shampoo and also contained a full 1875W hairdryer. So often hairdryers in hotels are small and not very powerful. There were 2 shelves on the shower wall to hold your soap, shampoo, or the use of the lower one for your foot. The internet within the rooms was easy to access and there was a strong signal throughout the hotel. They have Wi-Fi amplifiers in each room which helps ensure a very strong signal. I obtained a download and upload speed of 10 Mb/s. Although this is adequate for simple tasks on the internet, personally I think hotels should offer at least 30 Mb/s as their minimum. This is especially true since many homes come standard with 100 Mb/s. The hotel is very close to many downtown attractions. It is only 1 to 2 minutes off of 376 which is the main thoroughfare through Pittsburgh. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel but there are many restaurants in the area. Ufnortunately, many of the close ones close around 5 or 6 pm. The only ones that were within walking distance and open past 6 PM were Chinatown Inn and Fiesta Pizza. Both are within a 2 block walk from the hotel and serve good food. There was also a 24 hr convenience store located 2 blocks away. Check-in at the hotel requires you to pull off the main part of Fort Pitt Boulevard into what appears to be a fire lane in front of the hotel. It is marked up with white lines so at first glance you would assume that you're not allowed to park there. It is the only place to load and unload as the adjacent lot is permit parking only and they strictly enforce this rule. I saw several cars towed from the lot who did not have the permit on their car. Many will load and unload there but I used the front entrance pull off after calling the hotel. This is something I think they should advertise more on their website and with the email with your confirmation. Like many downtown hotels, there is very little space for loading and unloading and is something common in downtown Pittsburgh. Parking is the usual fee for any hotel in a downtown major metropolitan city. It was $24 per night with unlimited in and out privileges. The parking garage is 1 1/2 to 2 blocks away and it took me about 5 minutes to walk even though I am an overweight over 50-year-old individual. You can cut through an alley adjacent to the hotel to get to the parking garage. I did not feel unsafe but there are some always questionable characters in any downtown major city. I did not feel threatened or afraid but then again I am over 6 foot tall and a big gentleman and often I am carrying anyhow. Overall a very quality hotel for a reasonable price in downtown Pittsburgh that is close to most major attractions and has easy access to the freeway. It is a part of the Marriott group.

Came to town for the weekend and the location of this hotel was great. A lightbulb was burnt out which I thought was odd the maid didn’t notice while cleaning the room and that should have been my first clue. After a quick shower with no body wash (shower had 2 shampoos instead) I got into bed only to lay on something hard. Thinking it was the remote I went to move it and nope… it was actually someone else’s vape with lipstick on the mouth piece from who knows when. It wasn’t just on top of the covers it was under the sheets and mattress pad - the bed had been re made over it so I’m sure the sheets were not clean/changed. It was a visible lump so I’m not sure how it was missed even though it was under the mattress pad. I was moved to another room after I notified guest services. I wrapped it in toilet paper and gave to guest services so they saw just how obvious it was that cleaning crew should not have missed it while making the bed. The new room had hair in the shower so I’m not convinced it was much cleaner. They let me know a manager would want to speak with me in the morning and the guest services rep put notes on my account… I go to check out… nothing. No manager spoke to me, the clerk didn’t even ask how my stay was- probably best she didn’t and I’m highly disgusted with the stay overall. I gave 1 star bc I was moved rooms and the clerk was helpful to accommodate and the location is decent to walk to events. The staff and cleaning crew leave a lot to be desired. If possible, stay elsewhere.

I had a great experience while staying here looking at apartments on the north shore and squirrel hill area. My room was a good size for me. I had a mini fridge and microwave. My microwave was broke, but they sent up a new one within 20 minutes. All the staff were really nice. The second floor has a great view of the river front and a large area for complimentary breakfast. There was also a balcony, but way too cold to sit on it in Feb. Breakfast was eggs, waffles, sausage, Danish muffins or bagles. Different juices milk yogurt coffee. The mezzanine floor had laundry which I used since I stayed there close to two weeks. They lock the main door at night which is good for security reasons since its a city. You can access with room card. Of course great public transportation, very walkable. Target, five below and starbucks are really close and of course tons of other restaurants. There's a rivertrail entrance closeby. I like that the TV accessed YouTube since it's all I watch. I do think driving here and finding parking would be obnoxious, as with any place downtown. I saw there was valet. I took a Lyft from amtrak and had no problems. Also, thanks for letting my cat stay. He loved it. A lot of hotels downtown don't allow pets.

BEWARE ABOUT PARKING!

I was extremely upset that I was not informed that this hotel doesn't offer on-site self-parking or valet.

I drove around the block of the downtown building three times, trying to find the parking lot or valet stand in the rain during rush hour until I called and was informed that there is no parking and to use the public garage off-site; two blocks away.

Being unfamiliar with the city, I unfortunately parked in the wrong garage, even further away, and had to haul multiple heavy bags to the hotel in the pouring rain, four blocks away.

The unacceptable parking situation was not disclosed in any of my reservation emails, and I did not receive a courtesy call/message before my arrival informing me where I should park my car.

Not knowing this information ahead of time made my welcoming stay extremely unpleasant, especially when it was pouring rain and I had dinner reservations right after I checked in.

I now understand that the hotel does disclose the off-site parking, buried in the app under "what to expect", then tapping "parking & transit," then tapping "parking." Even with this, the hotel doesn't share detailed parking information. As this is very uncommon, for a hotel not to have parking or valet, this hotel needs to be upfront about it on the reservation page and send emails, calls/messages informing guests before their arrival.

Not to mention, from the nearest garage, you need to walk down a dark stone/brick alleyway, which is not fun/safe, especially at night, as it's an uneven surface on both the street and the tiny sidewalk.

Iv never stayed at a hotel that didn't have on-site self or valet parking available. If I had known this, I would have never booked this hotel as I needed quick (and dry) access to my car.

On the bright side, the room was clean & comfortable, even with the small entryway, which made bringing in multiple big bags a...
