Baskin-Robbins — Restaurant in Placentia

(Sunday, July 6th between roughly 6-7pm.) I was in town visiting family and the first thing I had to do after dinner was stop at the nearest BR to stock up on my favorite chocolate ice cream for dessert later. I always buy pre packed quarts for the best deal though the prices can vary by store, usually costing somewhere between $13-18 for two. This particular BR was very clean and the refrigerated cases were fully stocked w many flavors to choose. I hadn’t had time to stop for cones yet so I asked the employee-a really nice young man w beautiful blue eyes and a big smile-if I could purchase a couple cake & sugar cones. He gladly threw them in since I was buying 4 prepacked qts. He had the best attitude, and was extremely friendly and outgoing from the moment we walked through the door. We were in and out very quickly even though there were at least 10-12 people in the shop. The employees were all helping different customers and not wasting time standing around. Other family members w me chose scoops in a cup. I thought the size of the scoops was very fair considering what they cost which is usually not the case and the exact reason I only buy in quarts. Many times depending on whom is scooping them, the scoops can be very, very small. The nice male employee threw in a couple spoons and napkins too, as well as let me try 2 new flavors. All in all, I’d give this BR and my experience 5 stars. I visit BR shops all over and they’re not all the same. Great customer service really makes a difference! My family members also commented about how nice this young man was. I hope the owner/manager recognize that they have such a great employee working for them!! I don't splurge on ice cream very often, but my kids love the America's Birthday Cake flavor that comes out every July, so I get a few hand packed quarts throughout the month. This year, I have gotten 3 quarts so far, and every one of them was almost half empty when I went to check it at home. When I brought it to the attention of the server the next time and asked that they be sure to pack it well, they said okay, but it was lacking again. They never even weighed it! I also did the online survey to get the dollar off, and the boy said it wasn't taking the code and refused to give me the discount. He was extremely rude and also refused to let me talk to the manager. This location is horrible and the workers are slow and rude and obviously don't know what they are doing...

The ice cream is always good and the staff always seems nice. Only concerns are the hand washing of the employees or lack there of, the long wait due to what I think is understaffing, and female employees not fully restraining their long hair. With the hand washing, the female employee kept touching her face and then grabbing a scoop, cup, or cone. Beyond that, granted she was wearing a hat, her hair wasn't fully restrained and we watched it fall into the ice cream several times as she was helping another customer. The gentleman that helped us was very kind with the only exception of no gloves or hand washing observed. If those things were fixed, I'd gladly give a 5...
