I’m extremely disappointed with the birthday party experience at the Dairy Queen in Plainfield. The party was scheduled to start at 5:30 PM, but I arrived at 5:00 PM to make sure everything was ready — a few kids arrived early and simply sat at the tables. Despite that, the owner later made a point to say she was “being nice” by not charging me $120 for those 30 minutes, during which absolutely nothing happened.
The food situation was beyond underwhelming. We were told there would be plenty of food, but what the kids were served was laughable: a tiny hot dog, a small shared bowl of chips (for four kids!), and a tiny piece of pretzel. Thank goodness I had ordered pizza myself, or the kids would have left hungry.
They gave the kids a 10-minute look at how Blizzards are made, and my daughter decorated her cake for about 10 minutes. We even paid an additional $30 for the cake to be decorated — which felt like just another extra charge for very little effort or value. The part where the kids were supposed to decorate their own ice cream was also misleading — they were handed a cup of ice cream and a pinch of sprinkles. That was it.
To make things worse, I was charged the full $27.99 per child for two little ones who only ate a small ice cream from the fridge and didn’t participate in any of the activities. The owner even pointed out that she didn’t charge me for five bottles of water — as if that was a generous favor.
I ended up using plates from my pizza order because they had no extras, and when I asked for more plates or even straws, none were provided.
Overall, I personally found the service lacking, the experience overpriced, and the party poorly executed. This is just my opinion based on our experience, but I would not recommend this location for hosting any...
Read moreDelicious DQ ice cream - love the $6 lunch with 2 chili dogs, soda, chips and small sundae! This location has been open 40+ years and the owner Mr. Albanese is wonderful! He loves to joke with kids at parties and chat with anyone who stops by. The store has undergone many renovations over the years with an addition of an eat in/party room area, some new machinery, outdoor seating and lovely landscaping. Very clean and good service from friendly staff. Owner also is very community minded and donates childrens books and hundreds of bikes each year. This DQ is a gem in the community and certainly...
Read moreThis is my second visit to DQ.
Tried the Royal Strawberry Cheesecake with Vanilla ice cream :) (8/10)🤤 This has to be my fav. Portion sizes are good. The ambience is pleasant. My cousin is a huge DQ’s cotton candy flavored ice cream fan. We drove all the way for 30 mins straight to order and it was disappointing to know that they didn’t have that flavor :( I guess it’s a seasonal flavor.
The other really good flavors are Turtle Pecan cluster and Oreo Mocha Fudge.
This place also has small treats and ice cream sticks that I wanted to try. Will go back next time for sure...
