On 063024 I patronized the restaurant in Plainfield, IL. I had been craving their breakfast for some time - based on past experience. I was on a solo breakfast date. I was sitted and sat for a minute before a waitress acknowledged me. When my waitress finally came over she did not introduce herself. No problem. Anyway, I placed my order for spinach and feta omelette with hash browns and pancakes. My omelette and pancakes were nice. The hash browns, not so much. They were not fresh and tasted burnt. I was not going to say anything and instead decided to ask for a fresh order. The waitress proceeded to want to tell me the potatoes were fresh and did not serm to want to grant my request but instead responded with let her talk with the kitchen. She didn't say kitchen, I'm using that phrase. Indeed she did go to the kitchen only to return and repeat herself concerning the freshness of their hash browns. I asked if she would have the kitchen make me a fresh order of hash browns and I requested she take the other order away. Here's what really boiled my blood. I do not undersrand why people feel the need to touch someone's personal property in order to give a compliment. First of all, I had the zipper on my purse unzipped. The waitress proceeded to touch my bag to ket me know how much she liked it and wanted to know the brand. I was standind at the time because I was getting ready to leave. As a woman, and a mature woman at that, she ought to know better. Where are your manners? In this day and time when we hear about boundaries and personal space how do we not know better? How? I'm telling you...thanks be to love and understanding that I did not go there because my little self was ready to not be understanding. Instead I grabbed my purse and walked to the register to pay for my food. I'm not sure I will...
Read moreI’ve been going to this place for many years. I even tell my friends about how the food and customer services were great. I celebrate birthdays with my family and meet up with friends. Today I met with my friend for breakfast and was sooo excited to talk and “enjoy” another breakfast. BUT we noticed the food was oily, the skillet did not have a taste at all. IT WAS AN UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT. We communicated our concern to our server and she offered to have another plate made, but we declined politely. We just wanted to express our feedback for better improvement. (There was also an observation that our server gave us the wrong skillet at the start, and came back and told us, she gave us the wrong plate and asked “if the plate was touched”, of which we told her “no.” Then the server retrieved the plate from our table and brought it to another table-now isn’t that unsanitary!!!). We decided to just let it go and enjoyed an our conversation instead. On our way out to pay our bill, the manager was at the counter and we expressed again about the dissatisfaction of our food. The manager told us in a very rude and irritable and sarcastic tone, “I looked at your plates and you ate it. You don’t eat here for free.!” We politely told her we were picking on our plate, and if she looked closely, 75% of what we ordered was still left on the table. All we wanted was to give them a feedback, to better improve the quality of food, yet the manager’s attitude stand out as the worst. If I could rate this place right now, you won’t get a star… it should be on the negative. We paid for our bill!
Do not go...
Read moreWe have eaten at Southern Belle's since they first opened. The food and service has always been excellent and the restaurant very clean. We had breakfast there this morning with our son and were seriously disappointed. I don't know if it is under new management or what has caused the changes. We were seated by one of the servers at a table nearer the windows because there was a terrible noise coming from the kitchen which she said was cleaning being done. This went on for at least 20 minutes. As we waited for our food we began to notice how dirty the place has become. We could see a bathroom door from our table and it had a huge dirty area from handprints in the middle and the floor throughout the dining area was absolutely filthy. Our food arrived within a reasonable amount of time and was good, but we were glad our server left a carafe of coffee because her presence was almost nonexistant. We finished eating and waited a good 15 minutes for her to show up to bring our check and boxes. We were absolutely shocked at the prices! It was over $52 for 3 breakfasts, two of them being just waffles. A glass of orange juice was $5 and 3 strips of bacon were around $4.50. To add insult to injury, a charge of 3% is added if you pay with a credit card! This seems really dirty since a majority of people have not been using cash during the pandemic and they are simply taking advantage of that. This had been one of our favorite restaurants and we ordered from them many times for carryouts in the past year, but unless they make some improvements, we aren't...
