I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sumi Ramen in Plainsboro for a group reunion. With approximately 50 people in attendance, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant could accommodate our large group comfortably. Not only did Sumi Ramen impress with its spaciousness, but it also left a lasting impression with its delectable menu offerings.
To start our meal, I indulged in a variety of appetizers, including the vegetable roll, chicken karayage, and shrimp tempura. The vegetable roll was a refreshing blend of crisp vegetables wrapped in delicate rice and seaweed, providing a delightful combination of textures and flavors. The chicken karayage was impeccably crispy on the outside, while remaining tender and juicy on the inside—a perfect balance that left me wanting more. As for the shrimp tempura, the batter was light and crispy, showcasing the freshness and succulence of the shrimp.
For the main course, I decided to follow my closest friend to try pork - the traditional shio ramen, and I must say it was a remarkable choice. The broth was rich and flavorful, complementing the tender pork slices perfectly. The ramen noodles were cooked to perfection—firm with a satisfying chewiness. The addition of fresh vegetables and the carefully balanced seasoning enhanced the overall experience, leaving me fully satisfied and craving more.
Aside from the outstanding food, the service at Sumi Ramen was commendable. Despite the large size of our group, the staff was attentive and accommodating, ensuring that everyone's needs were met promptly. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
The ambiance of Sumi Ramen added to the overall experience, with its contemporary yet cozy interior. The warm lighting and stylish decor created a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal setting for our group reunion. The seating arrangements allowed for easy conversation, ensuring that everyone could catch up and enjoy the occasion.
In conclusion, Sumi Ramen provided a memorable dining experience for our group reunion. From the spaciousness of the restaurant to the delightful appetizers and the exceptional main dish, every aspect of the meal was exceptional. The traditional shio ramen was particularly noteworthy, boasting a flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. Coupled with the attentive service and inviting ambiance, Sumi Ramen is a must-visit for ramen enthusiasts and anyone seeking a satisfying...
Read moreThis is an honest review! I had the opportunity to eat dinner here yesterday. I usually go to terakawa ramen in Princeton Junction as there are very limited spots to eat ramen in my town. I go to planet fitness and was excited when this place was opening up because Ramen is literally one of my favorite dishes. That being said I have high expectations for ramen because all the components have to come together to make it a true delight. I give this place 5 stars on decor and aesthetics for a stirp mall restaurant they did not hold back on maximmizing the space to offer different seating options. It is still currently their soft opening and pretty sure menu is not complete. They offer sushi but I did not try I wanted to focus on ramen. I did order the pork crispy bao bun and was very disappointed with them. The bun was huge almost chebatta looking dry and meat was too fatty and tough with barely any sauce and regular shredded lettuce. I ate one and skipped the second. I ordered the black widow ramen and that was also a let down only because they promote that they make hand made noodles and to be honest they looked and tasted like angel hair pasta boiled in water then thrown in the soup. Major disappointment and I didn't get an egg as advertised. I liked the broth taste but that's about it. I believe this place has great potential if they focus on purchasing higher quality ingredients especially the meat they are putting in the soup because right now it is too fatty and tough lacking flavor. If they can adjust that I can see this place being a solid ramen spot, for now I'd say skip this and go to Terakawa for good ramen even though it is a chain I always leave satisfied. My tab was 20 for ramen and bao buns, just wish food was a little better. Will try it again later down the road once...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep concern regarding an unpleasant experience my daughter and her friends recently had at Sumi Ramen. As a group of young teens, they visited the restaurant for lunch and each ordered approximately $15 worth of food. Upon paying their bill, they inadvertently forgot to leave a tip a simple oversight on their part.
Rather than addressing the situation with understanding or a polite reminder, a staff member specifically a young Asian woman with short black hair approached them in an unprofessional and aggressive manner. She reportedly confronted them by saying, “WHY no tip? Problem, is there a big problem?” in a harsh tone, glaring at them and making them feel extremely uncomfortable. This interaction left the girls feeling intimidated and pressured into tipping.
While I fully acknowledge the importance of tipping and teaching young people about proper dining etiquette, it is entirely inappropriate for restaurant staff to confront customers, especially minors, in such a hostile and disrespectful way. A courteous and respectful approach would have gone much further in educating and guiding these young patrons.
As a parent, I am extremely disappointed that my child was subjected to this type of treatment. I believe it is important for Sumi Ramen to address this behavior internally and take steps to ensure that all customers regardless of age are treated with dignity and respect.
I kindly request a response from the management regarding this incident, and I hope that appropriate action will be taken to ensure that no other guests are made to feel uncomfortable or intimidated during their dining experience.
if I continue to see such behavior, I will proceed to take...
