Kenny's East Coast Pizza & Great Italian Food — Restaurant in Plano

First and foremost I understand restaurants are busy on the weekends. But this past Saturday, my family and I arrived around 8:30. The place wasn’t full, it just seemed steady. We got sat down immediately in the big round table behind the host counter. That’s when we started having a bad experience. First, the waiter came to our table and didn’t even greet us. He just asked what we were drinking. Then he proceeded to slide the beverage napkins to each of us aggressively. Keep in mind, that we had 3 kids with us, (one 4 year old and two teens) When you order a kids drink, they bring it to you in a cup with a lid. But this waiter brought my daughter a kids cup with a straw in it but no lid. We asked if he could bring us a lid and he just said “yeah”. Never did he say sorry or I forgot. When he left our table, he stopped at a table and started to chit chat with a table for a few minutes. He then went and dropped off tickets at a table behind us. By this time we were ready to order. He then proceeded to go by the register where orders are placed, and starts talking to his co workers. We then go look over at him, and he notices it. He looks at us, and looks away. He then walks over to the table behind us again and picks up the receipts. You would think after that, he would come to our table. Guess what, he didn’t he went and proceeded to fill another tables drink. Some of our drinks were empty as well. We looked at him to come over and he still didn’t. He went back to the area where the waiters were located and started to talk again. It had been 15 minutes already, and he only had a few tables he was waiting on. Even my youngest daughter asked why the waiter was taking so long. We tried to give him one more chance, and see if he would come and nothing. So my wife and I decided we needed to leave. As we walked out, we stopped and talked to the manager. I told her we were disappointed and that the service was unacceptable. To be honest, I don’t think the waiter even noticed that we had walked out. We briefed her on what happened, and she offered to give us some type of voucher or coupon so we could try it again. She was very sorry of the situation but by that time our family was very upset. We didn’t even get the managers name or the waiter. This waiter ruined a great ending to our family outing. I hope that waiter gets proper training, and doesn’t ruin another...

So on August 30th, 2021 my family and I went to this restaurant. I don't remember the name of the server but he was great whoever he was. He had curly hair and he was young and a little bit on the heavy side and he was also white. I forgot his name but whoever that was that served us he did phenomenal! He was kind, attentive and courteous!

We tried the mozzarella breadsticks and he was so attentive he got our order right. He even got our drinks right the first time and even kept refilling our drinks without us even having to ask. He went as far as to check up on us every once in a while but never in a way that felt intrusive or pushy. He also didn't try to upsell us but he explained very eloquently what Kenny's had to offer and walked us through our decisions.

Eventually us girls came to the decision of pizza and so we ordered a pepperoni pizza. As we waited patiently he continued to refill our drinks and as soon as our pizza came out he swooped in and got it for us and quickly got everything we needed. He made our experience less stressful and he really made it a joy to be there; it's almost as if he knew it was my birthday or something.

I think every server should be more like him. Treat people like it's their birthday without even knowing if it is. Because that's how he treated me and my family with such care and customer service, I wish he could be my server everywhere I go!

Oh and the food was amazing! The mozzarella sticks were tasty and delicious and the pizza was JUST THE BEST I've had in this area. And I've been to New York before. Nothing will ever beat New York pizza but this pizza is definitely just below that threshold of awesomeness. I think even the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would approve this pizza it was just amazing! And with the server's excellent care and service, it just made our evening so much better!
