TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE PLEASE READ. I walked into Sushi Shack on 12/22 last month and I’m still telling the story of my horrible experience. I went for the all you can eat deal on that Friday. I walked in was told to sit at a table with my sister and my friend joined shortly after. When we got our first order, it didn’t look like we had gotten our shrimp tempura roll that we asked for on the paper. So I politely told the waitress that I don’t believe we received it. She then took my chopsticks out of my hand, spread one of the rolls apart and held (what she calls shrimp) a small cube like thing in my face. It was so close to my face I thought she might’ve been trying to feed me. She then said “do you see this?? Do you see this?? What is this??” About the piece of “shrimp” because I asked her if we had gotten the correct roll. She held it up in my face for at least 3 minutes as she berated me. I laughed it off as if that wasn’t the most rude experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant and I continued with the meal. Then, we asked for spicy mayo and it was 50 cents for each of us which is normal. However, my friend asked for more after she finished and the waitress said “ok pay another 50 cents” and when my friend changed her mind about getting more the waitress said “yeah, you have to pay, nothing is free in America.” Not the worst part but still odd of the waitress to say. So, when I decided to pay I noticed that the spicy mayo was on my check 3 times. I told the waitress that I think she charged me more and before I could finish my sentence ( I was going to say it’s ok just don’t charge my sister and friend) she cut me off and said “do you see this right here ??? It’s says ONE THIRD of 50 cents. Do you see?? Do you understand?? ONE THIRD ONE THIRD.” And I understood completely since I’m not an idiot. Right when I said “oh okay” she goes “YEAHHHH.” In the most demeaning voice possible. Also side note, we were charged 70 cents for every roll we couldn’t finish since it’s all you can eat. Now, I know that’s a thing but I’ve never seen it actually put into practice. We had about 8 rolls on the table and she counted each one and added it to our bill. However after she treated me like I can’t understand basic math(with her demeaning tone), I decided not to tip her. I would like you all to know I always tip around 18% at dine in restaurants. I’ll tip even more if the service is greet. I’ve never been treated with such disrespect in my life so I had to make an exception this time. After I didn’t tip, she repeatedly told my sister “tip is not included, tip is not included” because she noticed I didn’t leave one. Then, she gave my receipt back to me and said “tip is not included.” I refused to let her bully me into tipping her after she treated me that way so I just walked away. I will NEVER go hear again and neither will any friend of mine. I would like to note that I do NOT use the race card for anything but she was very kind to everyone else in the restaurant (asking if she’d see them next week with a big smile on her face) but was very rude to just me my sister and friend. We are Black and Muslim(my friend wears a hijab so it’s clear) and I believe this had something to do with her behavior. Especially the part where she...

That's what you'd think right? The saying "It sounds too good to be true" comes into play here.
If you carefully examine their menus, you'll notice many of their ingredients overlap with each other.
Notice how often Cucumber, Avocado, Crab stick, and Cream Cheese come up? They boast they have a wide variety, but in reality they offer very little.
Also, like the other reviewers have mentioned, they only allow you to order 3 times, but as many as you want per order. Any excess you leave, they said they will charge you, including rice, which I'm going to point out WHY they specifically mention this now.
Their sushi is literally about 80~90% PACKED rice, and it's not even the tasty sushi-grade rice. It's your everyday Korean rice fare, not suitable for sushi rolls. This is unacceptable, and extremely bad for your blood sugar because of how much carbs you'll be consuming. Not to mention I think they added too much water so the rice is a bit more bland than it should normally be.
I've literally had to resist an urge to vomit while eating because of how much rice I was eating vs. other ingredients. I've never wanted to vomit from sushi before, and I'm not a picky eater.
Their calamari tempura was also extremely meager. Each order is a 3 piece and while I regret I didn't take a picture, 3 McDonald's fries would've been bigger than what came in. Yeah.
One thing I'd like to mention is that I talked to 2 people from Plano after eating there, one from UTD campus and someone who grew up in Plano. They both instantly knew which store I was talking about when I vaguely mentioned wanting to throw up from a sushi place with too much rice, and the one who grew up in Plano mentioned how the owner changed hands. That probably explains why it's really low quality despite a 4.0 rating.
And before you try the "get your money's worth argument", I'd like to point out for about $10, you can get a 10 pound bag of rice. Unless you can eat an entire bag, which can sustain a Korean family for a few weeks, you're not winning. Which is how they're still running (plus off the fame of the previous owner)
The only good thing I can say about this place is that they have a self-serve salad bar with miso soup. Their miso soup is alright, and their salad bar looks okay. I did not try the salad so I can't attest to it's quality, but it looks like one you'd see in a normal sushi shop.
TL;DR- Don't be fooled by it's price, pay elsewhere for quality sushi, not packed rice.
P.S - If you're going to say "irasshaimasu" (translation: "Welcome!" in Japanese), at least learn to say...

I don't know what she had against me and my wife, but I will not tolerate the kind of treatment we received on the last day we went there. If you can put up with being ignored so completely that you have to return to the bar to place your orders, then have plates of incomplete orders frisbeed at you when you are one of only three tables to serve, then you are a more patient person than me.
This place is hard to rate. Lunch time, on the weekdays, is the best time to go, but the service is always bad.
Weekend service makes the whole experience difficult to enjoy. But the food is also worse on the weekends. If my first impression of Sushi Shack would've been my experience on Saturday, October 13, there's a good chance I wouldn't have come back. And I might not have even ordered at all. We were seated in the same brisk and disinterested manner in which we are normally seated there and then made to wait for ten minutes before we successfully flashed someone down for drink and sushi orders.
The drinks came out another ten minutes later and were wrong. We ordered 2 waters, 1 Pepsi, and one hot tea. We got one water. I had to get a manager to fix it, and he still forgot the extra water.
The sushi that came was poorly assembled and unpleasantly flavored. The rice wasn't properly pressed and kept falling off. And the fish seemed slimy and flavorless, as if it wasn't quite fresh enough to be served raw. So, we changed our order to something cooked. It took 30 minutes for us to get noticed, then another 30 minutes to get our order filled.
Paying the check wasn't easy either. I finally just walked to the register, where I was told to sit back down. And then a check was brought to me.
If it weren't for the fact that their sushi is usually really good, I'd probably never go back. I can tell I caught them on a bad day where they were overstaffed.
But I should warn you: never go there expecting good service. The servers there, with the exception of one, are usually rude; the hosts treat you like an inconvenient; you will have a struggle getting your drinks and sushi orders refilled. They will also give you a hard time if you order what they think is...
