Full Disclosure, this is the same review that I left on Yelp but also wanted to post on Google:
The name of this place can be somewhat misleading. I went in expecting an assortment of Japanese style teriyaki dishes but was surprised to find that in addition to teriyaki dishes, there were quite a few Korean dishes on the menu. I have been to this place several times and I can confidently say that this is some of the best Korean and Korean-Chinese food in Plano. I have tried the following:
Shrimp Fried Rice Chicken Teriyaki Jjajang Myun Jjambbong Steamed Dumplings (Regular & Kimchi) Seafood White Noodles Rabokki (spicy rice cakes with ramen) Sujaebi (dough dumpling soup)
Like I mentioned, I've been here several times and having tried all these dishes, I felt compelled to leave a positive review. All dishes come with generous portions and is incredibly delicious. Not overly salty, not overly spicy, not overly sweet - all just right. This place is now my family's go-to spot for casual Asian food. The place has a good amount of seating and ordering is done via a tablet at each table - fast and convenient. The owner is very friendly and was always available to provide recommendations. If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try, you won't be...
Read moreThere is a noticeable discrepancy between the menu displayed on the digital screen above the kiosk and the options actually available on the kiosk itself. For example, I wanted to order the buckwheat noodles listed on the screen, but they were not available on the kiosk menu, and the staff declined to take the order at the counter. A few other items shown on the screen were also missing from the kiosk.
We ended up ordering the Jjajangmyeon and the Kanpoonggi. The Jjajangmyeon, offered at a special promotional price, was reasonable for the current deal. However, it may not feel worth it at full price. The sauce had an overly thick texture, likely due to excessive starch, and the oil didn’t blend well into the sauce. The ingredients were fresh, but the execution left room for improvement.
The Kanpoonggi was made with fresh chicken and had a pleasantly chewy batter. It was moist inside, though a bit more crispiness would have enhanced the texture. The sauce had a good level of heat without being overwhelming.
The restaurant provides utensils and takeout boxes through self-service. The food was served promptly, which we...
Read moreI was grieving that my childhood favorite dish was dying out as far as good price-portion-flavor for Jjajangmyun. It's been a while since I was satisfied with this dish to the point of all nostalgia being lost. This bowl made me feel like a kid again with my face covered with black bean sauce sitting across from my mom. This evening was full circle as my son's face was covered sitting next to me and across from my mom. I'm not one to take photos of food. This is a dish that always looked good to me but frequently fell flat of my expectations. Only reason I took the picture of my half eaten bowl was to see if my non-Korean friends were familiar with this dish. I really want this place to stay so I can regularly experience my childhood again. This is the only reason I'm leaving this review because I generally don't care to...
