Chilangos Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Plantation

I'm so disappointed. A friend told me about this place a few months ago and I've been dying to go. I finally went today and I won't be going back. When you walk in, they tell you to sit wherever you want, great. The waitress took our orders and after she brought us our food, she checked on us once then didn't bother to look at us again for the next hour or more. She didn't come over, neither did any of the other waitresses. We felt invisible! I wanted to order something else but by the time she came over, I was so done with the lack of service that I just wanted the check. The food was bland and had no flavor; I had to add salt to everything and I don't usually add salt to my food. Bland, bland, bland. And the sauce to dip my Taco was like a cup of brown water with green decor. No flavor! Then the cherry on top was when one of the waitresses asked us to move to a smaller table so they could seat a large party. Ma'am, y'all told us to sit where we wanted, and now it's a problem? That's okay, no worries, I'll go sit over at Tequila Sunrise in Oakland Park where the food is flavorful and the service is better.

EDIT (in response to owner's response) the waitress did not in fact come over several times. She brought us water, took our orders, brought the food, checked in once maybe twice, maybe, then never came back. We made several attempts to get her attention but were unsuccessful until we were finally able to. I understand that we arrived before the dinner rush, but if you know that you get busy, seat your patrons at appropriate sized tables. You were very polite in how you asked us to move, but the fact that we were given the choice to sit where we want, we shouldn't have been...

I went for lunch with my friend. The restaurant was very quiet. It is a horrible location because there is no parking available in front of the building. You either gotta park in the back (which doesn't look too safe) or in the plaza next to it, which only has like 4 spots available.

We shared 4 tacos. We got 2 queso birria tacos. They were the best queso birria tacos I've ever had (outside my home of course). The tortilla was a bit crunchy, the cheese perfectly melted, the meat was tender and well seasoned, and the broth was delicious.

We also shared one carnitas taco (perfectly seasoned pork). It was the best carnitas pork taco ever. The taste of the manteca that the pork is cooked in was great. We also got one carne asada taco. It was just ok, nothing out of this world.

I ordered one glass of horchata and I've definitely had better horchata and don't think it was worth $5. For dessert we got the churros with nutela. The churros were filled with cajeta (which we did not enjoy). So the waitress was nice enough to take them off our check.

Overall the restaurant was simple and the waitress was nice and attentive. I think i would go back but the parking situation might make me choose take out instead of...

Horrible, horrible, horrible service! The female they have as a waitress has zero personality. I got not even a hello when I entered the door she looked at me and walked off sadt at the bar for 10 minutes. I Had to ask for a menu when I got the menu it was wet and old .. the bar was sticky and there was still dirty glasses all over. .. I understand there may have been a rush, but at the time there was only one person doing a takeout and a couple seated as you can see in my video ..I wanted to ask questions about the food because I was planning on doing a whole Thing with all different types of food seems like I was annoying her ..I’m from Jamaica and I love Tamarind.. I ordered a Tamarind soda and it was horrible. Not their fault they didn’t make it ..The place was hot, no AC and had an overwhelming and powerful smell of gasoline. My nose is still burning. This place was recommended but when I told my experience, several people confirmed that this is the normal behavior .. at this point I just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible and never look back !!!
