Crumb’s Referred by friends. We had breakfast here Sunday, 6-8-25 at 10:30am, prime time for a Sunday breakfast. We were a party of three, I, my wife, and her mother we gave them our name and we immediately received at text that we would be notified when our table was ready with another text. That was cool; we could wait in the comfort of our car or take a walk or whatever. Sure enough we were notified via text that our table was ready and walked into this restaurant for the first time. It was full to capacity and pretty loud. We were cheerfully led to our table. In looking around, we were in a large square dining room that also featured a bar with bar stools and two giant TV screens. They had an open ceiling with exposed fans and ductworks, uniformly painted black. Dozens of umbrellas dangled from the ceiling decorated with ribbons and flowers. The walls were a pastel yellow, the ceilings and trims were white. A purple neon light tube ran the length of the room where the walls met the ceiling. Big windows were plentiful throughout. The net effect yielded a bright, fresh, and airy dining atmosphere. Unfortunately, the time of day and their popularity made it distractingly loud in the dining room. Our server, Crystal soon introduced herself and brought water for all in a carafe we could use later to replenish what she poured now. She gave us ample time to review the menu and decide. The menus are ipads that are handed out that have all the items complete with photographs. It was the first time had experienced that. I had the waffle combo with waffle, eggs, and bacon. I asked that the waffle be served on a separate plate because I don’t want syrup getting next to my eggs and bacon. My wife had a chorizo and avocado breakfast burrito. Kitty, my wife’s mother, had the “Rise and Shine” breakfast; (egg and sausage on an English muffin). Kitty liked hers. I found the waffle tough to cut and eat. It was served with whipped cream instead of butter which I am more used to getting. The bacon was ok, limp, not crispy. The eggs were fine but not seasoned. My wife said it seemed like her Chorizo was like it was pureed, no body to it, no chunks, Chrystal was excellent. Despite how busy it was she remembered everything we asked for. She was cheerful and professional throughout. Everyone on staff was friendly there. All in all, it was pleasant and average. It’s on our list but we’re not racing to go back. We will be trying again different...
Read moreA new sister restaurant of the one in Danville. The menu is extensive and available on a tablet or on your phone. Great photos to show what you will get. Nice touch. We ordered 2 different Benedicts. A salmon and a California. However the food runner didnt notice that the poached eggs were overdone, the hollandaise sauce (from scratch) had a skin on it like it had been in the window for awhile... or that the hashbrowns were not cooked to order .My husband enjoys his well done and crispy and they asked how we wanted them prepared It wasnt a special request.
We requested a remake. But the hash browns were still the same both times they came out. Benedicts themselves were ok. Tasty but nothing super memorable. Also having to wait 2 times for breakfast and then having the potatoes come out the same was a disappointment. The second time the eggs were cooked as they should have been but they took the Silverware so we had to wait again to eat on the remake. The Bacon on the California was on the super well done side on both orders, maybe that is the way they serve it here but it gave precooked and warmed up vibes.
The waitress was lovely doing her best because it was a busy Saturday & I understand that, however my opinion is if you have food runners they need to know food well, check the orders and make sure they are correct. I was slightly sad that we werent offered anything even a fruit side while we had to wait for the remake. Possibly even just comp the cup of regular coffee we had ordered with breakfast. Nope.
With the prices these days it would be nice to get the food the way it was ordered and have it be correct. I almost wish I had tried something else. The griddle fare here looked super fire and I bet it is more memorable taste wise than an overcooked California Benedict. Decor is cute, they give an insatagramable vibe with umbrellas and tree cutouts around...
Read moreI visited Crumbs in Pleasant Hill for breakfast on June 18, 2025. At the end of my meal, I left an 18% tip, which I personally calculated and entered. However, when I reviewed my credit card statement on July 18, I noticed that the bill had been altered to reflect a 20% tip instead of the 18% I originally left.
Concerned, I called the restaurant on July 19 and asked to speak with the manager. Irma identified herself as the manager and listened to my concern. She assured me that she would investigate the matter and get back to me that same day. Unfortunately, I never received a call back.
On July 21, I followed up and asked for Irma again. The person who answered asked about the nature of my call and then placed me on hold. After a few moments, the call was disconnected. When I called back, I was told Irma was in a meeting and would return my call. I have still not heard back.
This experience raises serious concerns. It makes me question whether unauthorized tip adjustments are a regular practice at Crumbs, or if this was a one-off issue being covered up. At the very least, a manager should follow through on a promised callback—especially when a customer is reporting something that borders on fraud.
At this point, I’m less concerned about the small dollar amount than I am about the principle and lack of accountability. I would like confirmation that this issue has been investigated and that the employee responsible has been addressed.
Regardless of the amount in question, modifying a customer's tip without their consent is unethical and fraudulent. This incident has damaged my trust in Crumbs and gives the impression that the restaurant prioritizes profit over integrity.
Update...I appreciate Amy, the owner, for promptly addressing my concern. She clarified that it was a one-time issue that has since been resolved. This restored my...
