Stick with me for a second because I have a story to tell.
My wife and I needed our wedding catered and REALLY wanted a taqueria to come to my dad's house and make the food fresh there. It's harder than one would think. We found a place in Hayward with a similar name to this place. We drove from SF to Hayward to try it out. It wasn't bad. It wasn't great though but we figured they could do it. We called Jorge. He seemed confused when I told him we had eaten at his Hayward location as he didn't have one.
He told us we should come out to Pleasant Hill and try out his food. We did.
We're very glad we did. At first we went in without letting Jorge know just so we could get the experience that everybody gets when they come. We were impressed.
The chips and salsa bar was excellent. Homemade chips and salsa go a long way in my book and tell you a lot about how the management wants to present themselves. It should. It's typically the first thing you eat.
When we got our food we knew we had found our caterers. The tacos were great. The chile relleno was fresh and tasty. The rice and beans were delicious. We then introduced ourselves to Jorge who was polite and NICE. He asked us what we had and then proceeded to fill in the blanks of the things on the menu we didn't order. We loved every bit of it.
After reserving their services for our wedding we went home really excited about what was to come.
On the day of our wedding Jorge arrived promptly at the time he had promised (maybe even earlier) with Samuél. They setup and starting making the food while we were at the wedding ceremony. When our guest arrived for the wedding Jorge was ready to go.
With two grills and two tables full of food they made sure there was not a shortage of food. They moved quickly to avoid a line up so no one was waiting too long to get their fill.
The food was better than I remember. They did the most amazing job at making the food for our special day memorable in the best way possible. Everyone thought so and made sure we knew they loved the food. My dad who is a hard person to please food wise went back for thirds. The carnitas, the al pastor, the carne asada and the pollo asado were all just great. The rellenos disappeared. I remember seeing them and then they were gone. They were replaced and then they were gone again. I am pretty sure someone was stealing trays and selling them out in front of my dad's house.
Both guys did a great job and were just so polite and nice to our guests. We can't wait to have another party so we can have them cater it. Seriously.
Thanks again! We are so grateful we...
Read moreThis is a solid spot for those that need them munchies, well you got a spot right here in Pleasant hill. Its quite convenient for its hours of operation to be 24/7 unlike other places that close early. They are open to indoor seating & parking is right outfront. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service is quite helpful if it's your first time ordering at this place. I was met what seemed to be the owner, didn't catch his name but good business for him. We all had our long days, but his energy was still up. I ordered Al pastor and Carne asada tacos, no doubt they were good! I had also ordered a carne asada dinner plate and it wasn't the best. It was dry and overcooked. I hoped it would've been good but I had their other items on the menu I ordered the other times l've went and they were fine. They serve aqua frescas dessert, bottled jarrito's, & other beverages. The cool thing I like is their chips & salsa bar that goes with it. Chips are kept warm and crunchy when you bite on them....
