The space currently occupying Birchwood South, the shopping center this Jersey Mike's currently occupies, was farmland for most of my life. I remember seeing signs that this Jersey Mike's and a Starbucks would be opening in this location soon. It's good to see the 53rd Street area in Bettendorf continue to develop. On this particular Sunday, I decided to stop in, not only to see the new building but also to have a sub at a Jersey Mike's for the first time ever. The space has a defined aesthetic about it. There's decoration indicating the New Jersey origins of the company, both a painted wall indicating the precise town and a three panel canvas of pictures of Bradshaw's Beach. Light wood paneling covers the floor of the dining space, with rougher paneling extending about half way up the walls throughout. The remaining walls in the dining room are a painted light blue, a color choice that further extends into the kitchen prep area in the form of light blue subway tiles. A drop ceiling is present throughout both the dining and prep spaces. 2 x 2 foot tiles are used, with visible diffusers and returns at appropriate intervals. The only thing off about the space is the lighting - florescent T5 or T8 fixtures with covers are also space throughout, but they also put two incandescent fixtures above the beach photos. These confusingly stick out from the rest of the natural and florescent lighting - they just look sort of weird by themselves. I'm certainly not complaining about any aesthetic part of the space. Everything more or less comes together to give the space the feel of an interior designer's vision of being on the Jersey coast in mid summer. Not a bad look at all - it's clean, bright, and cohesive. I opted for a Mike's Famous Philly for my sandwich. My order was enthusiastically taken, made, and delivered to me in minutes. The sandwich was as advertised - everything was fresh, the bread was lightly toasted yet still soft, and the meat and vegetables were tender and well seasoned. Everything was present that makes a good Philly cheese steak good. This is in a convenient location for me to get to not far from where I currently live. I can easily envision coming back here for another sandwich in the future. Thanks for being a great new part of Bettendorf, Jersey Mike's!

This location is brand new and I decided to stop by yesterday. Line was fairly long but got through in about 10 minutes. If you like Jersey Mike’s, you know what to expect; if you haven’t tried it, it’s SO much better than most chains out there! Word of advice, the drive-thru is NOT for JM, it’s for the Starbucks on the other side of the building. They should label that better as I was momentarily excited thinking that I could grab a JM sandwich without going in!

After a long day of traveling with a emergency diverted flight all I wanted when I landed was a Jersey Mike's sandwich. I walked into the store 2 minutes before they closed and then was going to leave because they had most everything cleaned up. Owen assured me that it was just fine and that he would be more than happy to make my sandwich. I know how it is to just want to leave after a long night at work and he never showed any irritation and served me with a big smile....
