Read moreHad a great first brunch here, am surprised we never knew about it and it is so close to where we live! We had brunch last month at Crumbs up in Danville, and we were very disappointed in the food quality (dry pancakes, bland food like the chicken and waffles, decent burger and BLT, but that is not a very high bar to clear), so we were pleasantly surprised by our meal at Bill’s Cafe—I can understand the crowds! The buttermilk pancakes were pretty decent and tasty, but we loved the cinnamon pancakes—so pretty and such a great concept, and so delicious and moist. We made it even better by drizzling some half and half (their little packets on the table) on them, OH MY, that made them the best restaurant pancakes I have ever had (since we usually still make it better at home)! The cinnamon pancake was supposed to be drizzled with a cream cheese sauce but it was super watery, almost looked like a sugar glaze.
Another highlight was the cups of creamy lemon chicken orzo soup that came with the sandwiches—that was 7.5/10!
The breakfast burrito was a bit underwhelming, a bit bland (but as expected, since the best ones are at Mexican Restaurants), but the bottle of hot sauce they provided helped a lot! The country fried steak was pretty good but the biscuit and gravy that came with it were disappointing, not enough gravy and the gravy had barely any sausage in it. And the seasoned country potatoes were soggy with a kind of sauce on them and not great. That’s how they are supposed to be, but I would next time try to get country fried potatoes, as I like my potatoes crisp. I think their hash brown would improve a lot if they used more oil when cooking them, so they could crisp up more (were a bit dry, not oily looking enough).
Overall though, we would still recommend the restaurant for a great brunch place. All the food came out relatively quickly. I like that they have mini versions of everything, so you can get them for kids, or if you just want to try something to see how it tastes. The staff were wonderful, reassuring us to take our time even with crowds waiting, and I love the online waitlist app and how you can see how many people are in front of you (we were able to pop in to get put on it, then run a few errands nearby)—it was a great experience. Thank you for a great early Mother’s Day meal for my...
Read moreThis was the first time I have ever been to this place and I went on Easter Sunday with some friends. Our server was initially very friendly and took our order promptly and efficiently. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was clean so that was indeed a nice touch. Our starter of soup came out and the soup was very good. Problems started though once our entrees came out. I had ordered a California Club with no ham extra turkey and the order came out with ham. I informed the server and he apologized and took the plate back to the kitchen. Then one of my other friends bit into his Bistro Club and noticed that the chicken was undercooked. Again our server took the plate back to the kitchen. My third friend ordered the El Paso Benedict and this thankfully came out to order but by the time our meals came back out he had already finished his meal. To the restaurants credit they did redo both meals and once the meals were fixed the meal was tasty. However, after these two back to back incidents our waiter went from friendly and nice to very serious and non-interactive. After we ate we were given the bill and I noticed that I was still paying full price for the two entrees that were messed up. This did not leave a good taste in my mouth nor did it for my other friends and we left on a sour note after paying for an experience that was not justified by the price. I understand that it is difficult to work in the restaurant business these days but still I expected the staff and my waiter to do more to rectify the issues that we experienced. I will likely not return to this location. A...
