Pizza is OK, nothing special. I was actually really disappointed, because for the high price, I expected much more than just an average pizza experience. It does have a nice ambiance. Good amount of beer selections. WAY overpriced compared to any other local pizza place. I will stick with RTP and Mountain Mike's for most of my pizza needs.
*In response to the owner's patronizing response below, here's the actual factual research: A mini 3 topping pizza at Mountain Mikes is $7.99. A mini 3 topping pizza at Porky's is $14.86 (I just compared both online). Is that comparable? Nope, Porky's is 86% higher in price. Multiply that times 4 personal pizza orderers in my household, it would cost $27.48 more for 4 personal pizzas at Porky's vs Mtn Mikes. (Like most families, we have kids and everyone wants different items, so we order personal pizzas 95% of the time.)
Also, Porky's doesn't offer spinach as a topping, which I always put on my pizzas (and this is the first pizza place I've tried that doesn't offer that - except maybe Dominos). I find more veggie topping options at the competition, and there was nothing more fresh about the toppings I had at Porky's. Additionally, Porky's only offers gluten free on their mini's so if you want a small or larger gluten free pizza, you're out of luck. Plus they charge $3.50 more for the gluten free crust on a mini! That's almost 40% more just for crust! Those aren't good deals, and they are certainly not comparable to the competition. I already mentioned that the beer selection was decent, but honestly, the type I like (IPAs) were all unknowns. I support local options but you gotta keep some well known stand by's as well.
I'm pretty sure RTP and Mtn Mikes also offers catering, fundraising, space for birthday parties and special occasions. My first and only visit to Porky's, it was so loud from the video games and large parties of folks eating there that it distracted from our enjoyment and ability to carry on a conversation without having to talk very loudly. So I don't consider those things to be positive for our family's needs. They are great if you have a loud group that wants a large space to party in.
I was trying to be nice in my review, and I had being quite generous with my rating, but I simply like the taste of RTP and Mountain Mike's pizza much better, and they are more affordable, and they offer more veggie toppings I like. The unnecessarily patronizing and defensive response from the owners made me decide to remove a star and not go back again. They did nothing to try to encourage me to...
Read moreAnother Porky's in the Bay Area but this Pleasanton location is bigger and busier! It's deep in when you exit from the freeway but people still found the place. I can say this place is great for a party or after a kids game. Plenty of tables and outdoor seating. Perks for the adults are the many TV's to watch the game while the kiddos eat and hang out.
Their service is mediocre as it's busy but I see so many employees standing around chatting than working. At least, you get a number for when they find you to give your order. No table service. We like their chicken but I like their pizza more. They fill the pizza with ingredients and are not stingy. Great with ranch of course. Zucchini sticks are great as well as their potato wedges. Sodas are made right and not just syrup taste. I need the carbonation.
Haven’t had their beers or drinks yet but next time. Still funny to me their call this a palace?! The prices are decent but still expensive to me and if this place wasn't so far, we properly would...
Read moreThe Pleasanton version of Porky's Pizza Palace. Still needs a little work compared to the original down in San Leandro on 1221 Manor Blvd. For one, the salad servings are a little less generous and a significantly smaller serving of the garbanzo and kidney beans. The reason why we like the one in San Leandro is the servings of the legumes is generous, a pretty good solid amount and makes for a nice vegetarian part of the meal. The Pleasanton version is more like a garnish. The Pleasanton version of the wedge fries seemed a little soggier, likely overcooked because they kind of disintegrated when you touch them. Wedge fries definitely need to be fluffy but they also have to be firm. The ravioli was pretty good. We had water but I did notice that the beer selection was really good. Tv monitors were on various sports channels including a couple of tennis games and baseball. The staff is nice and friendly, there is some nice outdoor eating area. Plenty of parking because it is after all in a...
