The bakery came recommended by neighbors in Pleasanton CA. Prior to placing a order I confirmed a cake could be made without cross contamination of NUTS to help a special need. After receiving confirmation I ordered a Birthday cake, and followed up to remind the bakery of the need and they agreed. However, about 12 hours later, the bakery called me to let me know they could not accommodate the special need of nut allergies. This is my first experience with a bakery, anywhere, where such a need could not be accommodated. And more importantly whereās business ages twice (before & after the order) and then calls back ~12 hours later to cancel the order. Seems a very unreliable business ethic and business. But, I guess there is always a first time. My childās life is more important than a bakery who cannot accommodate, and I understand everyone has limitations- but human life is more valuable. And this will be my Last order with them. I will NEVER go to Primrose Bakery and will veritably share this with friends in the eBay area. For anyone who has medical needs or allergies, or who wants good customer service and yummy cakes, please go to Nolandās Cakes at 205-B Main St, Pleasanton CA 94566. Primrose aināt worth it. Also, appreciate the owners response below. To clarify,They did not endanger my childās life, as the owner asked. The question asked always about avoiding cross contamination and this is the first bakery that has refused the order after accepting it. I guess every refusal opens a door as Nolandās Cakes nearby worked out to be āOne of the Best Birthday Cakesā weāve gotten. Thank you for the opportunity āPrimrose ā to make me go to Nolandās. Again, go to Nolandās Cakes at 205-B Main St,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered a princess cake for a Saturday party, but they were all booked up for Saturday so they asked me to pick up my cake on Friday instead. I told them that I wanted a freshly baked cake, made to order, since I had a couple of bad experiences buying things from their display case. I think the bakery might have been under different management or ownership when I had one of the bad experiences. I was assured that I would get a cake made fresh that day . I picked up the cake on Friday evening. They had not yet drawn the picture or message on the cake even though I came 30 min after the pickup time. I didnāt mind that since I wasnāt in a hurry. The cake looked beautiful. I drove straight home, I live in pleasanton, and put the cake in the sealed box into the refrigerator. The next evening, we had the cake. The inside of the cake was fine. The cake was moist and good. However, the fondant on the outside was kind of hard. It smashed the cake a little when I cut the cake. The picture that was drawn onto the cake must have been made with an icing with no fat in it because it got so hard that it broke when I cut it. I would rate this cake as a 2.5 out of 5. I want to like this bakery. Their cakes are beautiful, and there are a lot of choices. It is in a convenient location for me, but I have been disappointed more times than I have been pleased when I have used...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'll start with the 1-Star for the atmosphere. It's great they expanded their bakery and have a very limited area of indoor seating. Maybe it was the day/time I was there (on a Saturday around 3pm). Why do people have this need to take their dogs inside this place? Why? That family that were there. Why did you have 3 dogs with you? It's disgusting. This family of 6 not only took all the seating, they had cornered off 1/4 of the baker for their dogs only. They setup a dog-playpen. They busted out the dog bowls. They even bought donuts for the dogs! Why management didn't say anything - beyond me. They should put a sign on the door that says this baker is dog friendly and dogs will be eating inside. Might as well have a donut and coffee down at the local kennel, because it's no different. I'm urging all business - please tell your customers NO to bring their entire family of pets to your establishment. It's dirty and disgusting and people eating food and have human time, don't want be disturbed because you can't leave your dog at home while you go out and about. If you can't leave your dog at home, don't leave your house or get a dog sitter.
Other than that, the pastries are delicious. Nice they got a new espresso maker to make...
