Local favorite Chester's Drive-in (originally A&W) is only open for part of the year. If you are from Sheboygan county or , more specifically, Plymouth you've, at least, HEARD of Chester's.

Have CASH to pay your bill . They do NOT take credit / debit cards. And please TIP your waitress!

At Chester's you park your car and a waitress will walk up to your car to get your order. Dont bother waiting for a menu , they have a large "shared" menu. It is located directly under the roof of the covered parking. (If you park there- it's straight ahead of your car and up a little.)

You can get out of your car and eat at a table located at the back right corner OR if you walked there is outdoor seating by the front. Another option is to call in your order and pick it up. (The latter is nice when they are REALLY REALLY busy.)

The menu consists mainly of deep fried food. Including : Cheese burgers, burgers , fries , battered cheese curds, etc. My personal favorite is their chicken strips (made with real chicken, not ground down meat knock offs.) Also included are ice cream , pepsi product beverages and Chesters exclusive root beer (you can get a gallon or half gallon to take home .)

Chester's is usually pretty packed at most times of day, but don't worry there is ample parking .

While you wait for your food you can enjoy the company in your car or listen to your preferred music from your car stereo. The food doesn't take that long though , so don't get too comfortable. Oh , keep your window open with at least 4 inches of glass exposed, the tray hangs on the window so it's easily accessible. Extra tip : TURN YOUR HEADLIGHTS on if you need something from your waitress , TURN YOUR CAR ON when you are done or want to leave . These are a few secrets that only seasoned veteran patrons would know .

This restaurant is a favorite here in Plymouth, so bring your whole family and enjoy the unique experience of...

Updated 10/22. I came back and had the steak sandwich and fries and wow what a positive experience this has been. The server Kayla was welcoming, her smile disarming and her attitude was so positive. The experience today was off the charts great. Good job Kayla and the kitchen staff. What a positive turn around. I'm glad I came back! The food was served hot and fast. The order accurate and the smile present throughout.

Previous visit. I've tried this place a few times. They make a great burger. The fries are always hot. It's the service that's not. Not sure if my server was having a bad day or what, but when my sandwich was made incorrectly it was a challenge to get her attention. Then the eye roll and the comment that "she didn't mess up, it was the kitchen" just didn't sit well. Just say your sorry and take it back and get it fixed. I don't believe the customer is always right but in this case, the situation could have been handled better. She was tipped when she brought my meal. So not sure what the issue was. Management fixed the sandwich and apologized, bringing fresh fries with the...

Fun, old-fashion style drive in restaurant. The staff are not on roller skates, but you do eat in your vehicle. The menu is up on menu boards under the roof. Lots of delicious burgers and other sandwiches, crispy and salty fries, onion rings and other sides. Homemade rootbeer as well as other regular soda options. Pre-Covid they would hang a tray on your open window and have the rootbeer in glass mugs. Currently everything is bagged and in disposable cups. Sure hope they go back to the glass mugs and the tray. They have wonderful soft serve ice cream in vanilla, chocolate and orange...with the option of twist choc/vanilla or my favorite ...twist orange/vanilla. BE AWARE...they do not take credit or debit cards. I always bring cash, but am not sure about checks. Delicious and fun place that our family HAS to do at least a few times a season. One last thing...you can purchase half gallons of the rootbeer to go too. Mmmmm It is...

We got dinner tonight and it was busy. We ordered and got our food. However, the bun was hard, and the onion rings were very crispy and looked like it was cooked too long. Our order was messed up but was too late to take it back since we took it home. This was the first bad experience we have had. It's sad because we love this place. For what we paid for the food, was not worth it. We would have waited for the food to be cooked as it should. My bf said his burger was not cooked all the way. But he had a soft bun. But I had a hard bun.... My point is, slow down and do it right. If it will be a bit longer let the customer know. But this was upsetting we always send people to go check it out. I ended up making dinner for myself at home. I hope to have a better experience next time.

I am Wisconsin for work and a coworker suggested I try the burger at Chesters. I told the car hop I was an out of towner and to just give me the two most ordered items like they would normally come but with no tomato. She brought me a burger and a brat. The brat was okay but that burger was definitely one of the best I ever had. It has a charcoal grilled taste and I assume it was. Beware though that they don't use mayonnaise, it's butter. And it was delicious!! They also do not accept card. It's cash or check only. Good thing I had my check book! I paid $11.32 for the burger and brat and I gave her the only cash I had for a $3 tip. I will definitely be returning before going back home.

Very disappointed! Ordered ahead of time and was told 10 minutes. When we got there, we waited another 15 minutes, which is understandable when a restaurant is busy. I live 5 minutes away. By the time we got home with our food, it was cold and not fresh. The fries were soggy and not cooked all the way through. The burgers must have been precooked because the butter was unmelted. It was disgusting and a waste of money. Unfortunately, I had an experience like this last year. I will think twice before visiting this restaurant again. It’s really gone downhill.
