Wow, I don't even know where to start. The food is top notch and the atmosphere is perfect. James (the owner), his daughter Kasey (whom tends the bar), and the rest of the Grotto staff are simply amazing and so attentive. My wife and I had our wedding, after party at the Grotto from 10:45pm-1am (probably later as we were not remotely rushed out). It is so spacious and we had around 125 guests and easily could have fit more. All the food was ready to go and presented beautifully as soon as our guests arrived. James was so accommodating and was one of those vendors that helped us pull together some amazing food, karaoke, and overall great vibes for this joyous occasion. As if James did not already make this a stress free process for us, he actually helped us so much more. More than he probably even realizes. One day, he called us to tell us that he had gotten a short bus to use for transportation and would be happy to help us shuttle for our wedding. He took my wife and her bridesmaids from their Air B n' B to the wedding ceremony down the road at the Barn on the Pemi. When we asked him to also give us a lift late night, after the after party back to our hotel, he did not blink an eye and was on it. He did the perfect amount of checking in with us to make sure our after party was running smoothly and how we wanted it to without making us feel overwhelmed. In fact he did the opposite and made us feel so comfortable and loved. The hospitality shown was remarkable. I cannot recommend James and the Grotto enough. If you need a venue to host an event, or just pop in on any given day or night for a drink and some tasty food this is the place to do it! There are so many great beers on tap and so many well crafted cocktail options, and plenty of NA options. Also there are things on the menu for everyone to enjoy, whether you are vegan or have allergies and/or food sensitivities, they have options for you. My wife and I had also enjoyed a few delicious apps and pizza at the Grotto before we even booked this location as our after party. To James and his amazing staff, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Sincerely, Adam and Abbie

The pizza and grinder sandwich was excellent along with two appetizers. The child seat given to us was nasty and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. The server acted like we were bothering her. Not sure what the issue was, but it took forever for the waitress to come over to ask about drinks and then took 5 min to get them while she was chatting with another server for 2 min. The server never came over to find out how things tasted and we had to ask for plates to be removed.

In the current world of understaffed restaurants and a huge influx of customers, Chris is a Rockstar. He was kind, professional and efficient while juggling multiple roles. The heaping portions of delicious food were perfect, and more than enough for 2 meals (next time we will split entrees and try more on the menu). My only complaint would be I prefer my spaghetti a bit more al dente, but it was still awesome. Live music, a casual vibe and excellent food, drinks and staff.

A friend and I went to Grotto a month or two ago. I ordered chicken parmesan and a large pizza to go. About the same time our meals came out there was smoke in the kitchen and a very strong burnt food odor. I joked with my friend, saying "someone's getting burned food", not realizing it was my to go pizza!! As im eating my chicken parmesan i noticed it was burned as well. I stopped eating it, ate the padta and figured id cut the burned part off when i got home before eating my leftovers the following day. I didn't complain, paid my bill and left. The following day i warmed up my leftover chicken parmesan and realized (now in better light) that the remaining piece was 5 times worse than what i ate at the restaurant. The chicken was black across the entire bottom and was so dry from over cooking is wasn't edible. Luckily i had a pizza!! I opened the pizza box to find the entire crust black on top. I then looked at the bottom of the pizza and it too was black. Im not talking over cooker or brown, im talking black charred crust over 100% of the pizza. The following day, i called the manager. Told him what happened. He said he had been made aware of multiple meals getting sent out of the kitchen the night before burned or over cooked. He acknowledged they had a new cook and he was working to resolve the issue. He was very apologetic and offered to replace the pizza. Not the chicken parm, pizza only. He said he would email a gift certificate to me for the pizza. While i wasn't happy he did nothing about the chicken parm, i graciously accepted the free pizza and decided I'd at least give them another try. Unfortunately, i never received an email, never received a gift certificate as promised. So not only did i pay for food burned beyond being edible, but the manager never followed through on the offer of a free pizza. When i called back a week later, i asked to have the manager call me back, and never received a return call. I was willing to give them a second chance after talking to the manager the first time, as he was at least willing to make it right. The fact that he made an offer he didn't follow through on, then ignored my call, no way will i ever go there again. And i certainly will be too happy to tell others to steer clear of Grotto!!! Its too bad when youre a small business and treat locals like this. We're the ones that keep you going when the...

This restaurant was hands down one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at in my life! I 100% prejudged this place because of the way the restaurant looked and how long I waited for my food and I couldn’t be more sorry for doing that! I ordered the mozzarella sticks and the chicken parm sub and at the 1st bite I knew that everything was cooked to order & not from frozen. The mozzarella sticks were hand rolled, stuffed with ooey, gooey delicious mozzarella cheese and fried to perfection! The chicken parm sub was delicious from the homemade (yes I said homemade) sub roll, the hand battered chicken, fried to perfection and the perfectly melted mozzarella cheese and the right blend of tart & sweet sauce to top it off. You will wait a while for your food, but it will be 100% worth the quality time the cooks put in each dish! I unfortunately was unable to talk to the kitchen manager or the owner, but I do hope they read this & know that I will 100% be back again, you made a happy customer out of me & I am not too easy to please! Thank you for the time & effort you put into your food, please keep up the amazing service! I look forward to my next meal...
