Went in on 2/27/22. This was my 3rd time at this restaurant. My first experience was amazing. I even said this was the best breakfast I have had. The second time was mediocre. It's been more than a year since then. I said let's go because I wanted to do some other things up in the area. I ordered 3 slices of challah French toast with molasses butter and a side of home fries with onion. My boyfriend ordered a bowl of clam chowder, a pattymelt and fries. It took over a half hour to get our food. The waitress didn't bring the soup out first. When she came to refill our drink we asked her for the soup. She still didn't bring it. When the food finally arrived, my French toast and his fries were cold and the soup lukewarm. My home fries were really salty. The molasses wasn't even really mixed. I had to mix it so it was blended. I had to ask another waitress to get our waitress so they could remake my food. Glenn was half done his meal by the time she came over. When she brought my new food it was hot but now the potatoes had zero seasoning on them which I made a comment about but the waitress said nothing. The French toast was dry and had little flavor except for the molasses butter I put all over it. I ate the French toast but not the potatoes. When the bill came they did not offer me any compensation for the bad experience in their restaurant. When I asked the waitress about it she remarked snidely, what would you like me to take off? She said she had to ask her manager. He came out and I expressed my feelings about the food and the bill and the attitude from the waitress. He asked me what I would like and I said an apology for the aggravation this meal has caused. His reply, the waitress should have apologized but I'm sorry. He again asked what WE wanted. My boyfriend replied what are you offering us to which the manager rudely said, well I'm not going to give you gift certificates. We ignored his rude statement and he turned to the waitress and said take 50% off their bill and walked away. There was zero remorse for our experience there. The only reason he apologized was because he felt forced to do it. There was no meaning behind it. In the end it was the attitude of the staff there that left the worst taste in my mouth. I've never seen...
Read moreGreetings, While my wife had stopped in for breakfast several times, this was my first and probably last visit. We arrived around 0730 and while the front room had seating we were escorted to the back room. After being seated we both asked for coffee and once we received a cup each things went downhill rapidly.
I ordered a ham, onion, pepper, tomato and cheddar omelet with hash browns and white toast, my wife the House Hash Plate. We then asked for more coffee, we were told we’d have to wait because they had run out and had to make more (never ever been to a breakfast establishment that runs out of coffee). Finally our food came and still no coffee… never have I seen a more pathetic omelet, flat, flat as a pancake, usually omelets are full and fluffy, not this one. Never seen flat tomatoes, but there they were. The hash browns lackluster, but the bread was easily a day if not older, hard and stale, like eating croutons. Maybe you all ran out of fresh bread?
While we sat, the table behind us was constantly being offered coffee, not sure why we had dry cups. Finally the coffee being brewed was done, here it came… right past our table to the next table, then to the table adjacent to ours! Why were we ignored? Why did we have to flag our server down to ask for a second cup after we were both nearly done with our meals?
Great ready for my second cup… scolding hot brown water trying desperately to act like coffee. Was your wait staff taught how to make coffee? Wow, we paid $3.98 for hot brown water? I couldn’t wait to get the check so I could pay it so we could walk down to Chase Street Market to get our morning coffee, which is exactly what we did. Two real coffee’s for less than $3.98.
Very very disappointed with your breakfast...
Read moreThis might be ignorance of mine but it comes in shock for me that we have to pay the processing fee for using credit card. With this being said, make sure to bring cash to pay or save extra money in your bank to cover the diners business expenses. Secondly, ask what kind of soda is refillable and which is charged by bottle. After the waitstaff confirmed that soda is refillable, it comes in a surprise to me when she brought out soda bottles And open the second without confirming with me. Perhaps it was a bit of miscommunication. I said Don't worry about it and paid $5 on kids soda. In the meantime, I was trying to reassure that my kid gets his side fruit with his kids meal.. but instead I was charged for side fruit. No problem... it wasn't a big deal after all. Well, i guess when the waitstaff nicely asking you if you want this and that, just make sure that everything that you said Yes to comes with a price. Including maple syrup that costs $2 for about 2 table spoons. They comes in mini syrup holder. If you have two holders for your party, expect to pay $4.
To sum up, food was good. Over priced due to all the small upgrades. Waitstaff service is great and pleasant. But if you question the bill, they could be kinda loud... and no so pleasant. The place is cozy and cute. Great for couple dates or friends outing. Will I recommend it to others that looking for a small cozy dinner? Yes but Cash please. Will I recommend it to family with kids? There might be better options...
