Overall, nice atmosphere, but not a great value for the cost.
The ambiance of this place is nice, exposed ceilings, cool bar, even a garage door opening front area. We sat just inside. I liked that it was veteran-owned, being a veteran myself.
The drinks were really good, wife got the Yamamargarita and I got the Aphrodite.
We got the Feta dip appetizer, it was okay, needed tomatoes or something to compliment the flavors of the feta and ricotta. We asked the server if it was supposed to have more tomatoes or garnish (like the web site shows) and he said it might have but he wasn’t sure, the menus hadn’t been updated.
Entree food flavor was good, but the quantity was sparse. I got the Lamb ribs that the server recommended (that they show on the website) but there was hardly any meat in the bones! It was at least 3x more bone than meat, like Ethiopian ribs! It wasn’t even suited to be an appetizer. The plate had more rice and bread portions than meat as well, so it seemed like a full plate but really wasn’t, and was $24.
My wife got the falafels and they were the size of flattened lug nuts. You got 5 but they were like deep fried puréed beans. Same sides as I had (main course was less than equal to the accompanying items.
They had the front garage door open, so we had flies around the table that seemed relentless. My wife dropped her fork trying to keep them off her plate (unsuccessfully) and it took almost 10 minutes just to get another fork. Had the same issue with getting additional napkins (asking a different server). By that time, the flies had landed on her plate enough that she didn’t want to eat anymore. The server excused it to it just being two of them working. Not a good excuse for the prices on the menu.
The servers seemed very pleasant and friendly but when the place got busier, they were struggling to keep up. It was our first time there, friends had recommended it. I don’t think we would go back unless...
Read moreA restaurant that is veteran owned as my self working for the VA and my husband being in the medical field as well. We drove over an hour to come to this restaurant. We were seated, had our drinks and food. The table next to us which was a bigger party. The manager greeted and waited on them and told them about the "dinner special" and then their server came back to their table and announced there was a discount for veterans. None of this was announced to us. How do you know my husband wasn't a veteran? Do people look at color and who has money? We were not spoke to one time. Our server never checked on us. We waited for refills, never got a refill. My husband asked for the manager, he looked right at the manager to come over to the table yet he sent a waitress over. So we asked her the same question, why we weren't told about the dinner special. Her response was, "well dinner special starts at a certain time". We had only been there for 20 minutes before the other tables came in. Then our waiter came over and I asked him the same question and his response was different as well. Then another table came in and it's funny how the manager greeted them and talked to them as well. No one spoke to us leaving. We will not be back and I'll let others know to go to Nashua for gyros and friendly...
Read moreWeather permitting, the wide open street-facing dining room reminded me of Lefkas, Greece. I’d give you 5 stars for Atmosphere if you’d play traditional Greek music instead of Billy Joel. I like Billy Joel, but his music doesn’t evoke Greece.
No problem with the Service. 3 stars means satisfactory.
The food: the “Greek salad” had about 4 olives, a little bit of Feta, supermarket flavorless Roma tomatoes. I think it cost $16. Correct me if I’m wrong. On my half dozen visits to Greece they use local farm produce full of flavor, give you a big block of Feta and plenty of olives with a salad.
The Spanakopita seemed made from puff pastry, not Filo. There wasn’t enough spinach to tell if that was spinach. I didn’t taste any Feta.
The Moussaka had a good bit of ground beef, a tiny bit of eggplant, I couldn’t tell if it had potatoes or “red sauce.” It was rich tasting, and not like its description on the menu. By “rich tasting” I mean it tasted unhealthy. Not like the Mediterranean diet Greece is famous for.
I offer this as constructive criticism because I think the owner does care and can improve.
Suggestions: buy local NH farm produce; don’t skimp on the Feta, spinach or Greek olives; heat up the pitas. Otherwise they taste like they’re out of a plastic...
