We are so sad after calling in to order the food on Feb 1,25 we spoke to the owner and found out the restaurant is closed permanently. As an Asian I have a heavy heart knowing that we are losing this family restaurant. They make affordable authentic recipes that are reletively heathier choice serving Asian and non-Asian community. Sad esp so many pricey Asian eateries nearby charging $25 a dish and some Chinese restaurant right in Plymouth just makes their food with the ultra processed ingredients that our family all had indigestion after eating. Ming Garden will be missed dearly. One ethical family restaurant is gone. Thanks to non-Asian bad reviews and dine and dash people keep closing down Asian businesses.
//// Beef Chow Fun is great! For those who like pad see ew or char Kway teow rice noodles texture, you know Chow Fun is similar and its really a rare find in Twin Cities!! As an Asian, the food is 100% way better than other Asian restaurants in Plymouth. I had indigestion from eating ultra processed sauce from other restaurants. Ming's Garden didn’t give me an indigestion and I am happy with it. I am sad there is no dine-in. But I can see why they stop dine-in service. Likely abusive customers caused them to stop. These Non-Asian customers seemed to have ridiculous expectations of so-called "experience" e.g. expecting someone to stand there watching as if they are royals. Then these customers rated the place 2 stars. We checked this one out and found the food of this restaurant less artificial than the one near our place. Ming's Garden seems to use less ultra processed sauce than many places. It's family-owned and they eat what they serve you. I am quite disgusted seeing the abusive reviews. As an Asian, I...
Read moreStopped in for lunch hoping to get the buffet but due to covid there was no buffet. So I went to my go-to item when I get Chinese food which is lo mein. After I order my food the waitress disappears into the kitchen. Not 30 seconds later an alarm goes off on her cell phone which is at the hostess stand or at another table and it rings all the way until my food was done about 10 minutes later. She doesn't even apologize for the alarm and once again she disappears into the kitchen not to return until I was done eating. Apparently she reset her alarm on her phone so 5 minutes after her alarm was turned off it started ringing the entire time I was eating. I'm not sure if she was trying to rush me or what her plan of action was but I found it to be extremely rude. I felt like she was trying to get me out of the establishment as quickly as possible because she was close to being done with her shift. My food was absolutely terrible the noodles were chewy and way undercooked and I like my noodles al dente. There was sauce flooding the plate so it looked like I was almost eating soup. There was absolutely very little vegetables and very little chicken. I will definitely not be going back to this place to give them a second chance. I left her a good tip regardless of my opinion of her service and of the establishment. I'm sure just like everywhere this place is hit and miss but for me it was a huge miss. It definitely did not ruin my day but it literally left a bad taste...
Read moreI went to Ming's Garden for the first time recently for diner. I was not impressed with the dated, cheap decor, but it was clean. There was a tiny buffet that didn't look at all appetizing, so I ordered off the menu. I had the Lemon Chicken $12. The food came far too quickly-3 battered chicken breasts swimming in a barely lemon flavored water. The crust of the heavily tempura battered, very dark brown on the outside, greasy and hard. The chicken was fully cooked, but watery, barely warm and had a leftover, old flavor instead of fresh chicken one.
I am well aware that it is common practice for Chinese restaurants prepare breaded and fried foods before hand and then quick deep fry them again just before serving to save time. But doing that makes the food more greasy, changes the texture to watery inside, makes the outside hot but the inside tepid and most of all changes the flavor of the protein, especially chicken. I'm sure the food is safe to eat if handled properly, but it's still leftovers to me.
When I go to a fast food place, I expect frozen pre-breaded chicken. When I go to a restaurant, I expect the chicken to be raw before I order it and then prepared freshly, especially for $12 a plate. I would rather wait an hour for fresh food, than get leftovers in minutes. I...
