I have been a long-time customer of Thai Table. We frequently order take-out and have even held birthday dinners at the restaurant. The food is generally good - I've particularly enjoyed their tofu dishes.
My daughter requested that we eat dinner at Thai Table tonight. It was raining and we liked the idea of a cozy seat next to the window. When we arrived, the dining room was only half full - there were 4 open tables, as well as an additional dining room that was completely empty. After noting the number of open tables, I asked the owner/host, if it would be possible for us to sit at a table next to the window. He immediately replied by saying that he likes to "save that table for groups of four." He then proceeded to offer us our choice of a different four-person table or a two-person table.
I found this strategy completely baffling. As a reasonable patron, I could totally understand if there was a full house, or if there were only two tables available: a 4-top and a 2-top. In that case, seating us at the 2-top would make perfect sense. In tonight's dining room, however, there was already another 2-person group sitting at one of the 4-tops by the window. This was additionally confusing, since it seemed to violate the owner's stated policy of only seating groups of four at these tables.
It's rare to experience this level of pettiness and needless complication with a dining establishment this small. This evening's unfriendly interaction left a keen impression of negativity. We won't be going back. If you're planning to dine with Thai Table: I recommend trying the...
Read moreI went to this restaurant for the first time of week ago and the chicken almond ding was so amazing and delicious. They have a nice patio to sit on so though I ordered at the desk I asked to eat outside. They brought my food in a bag and in plastic I was disappointed because the point of going out to eat and sitting at the patio was to enjoy eating off a plate. The food was so good I didn't mind. Went back today for the second time and First I called to ask if I could order over the phone but eat when I got there at a table and she said that's not possible. So I came in went to the desk ordered and asked to sit outside and she was extremely rude to me about eating outside I said I just want to make sure that I have a plate and not plastic She said fine I asked for no onions She repeated it but my dish came with onions. While sitting outside there was a plastic tub filled with dirty dishes at the table behind me I only sat there because it was the best table to sit at
Though there were only three tables in the entire restaurant neither of the two waitresses came out to clear the tub during the 40 minutes I was there. I brought my own plate and cup back inside nobody had checked on me I mentioned while I was paying that my dish head onions and though I had to repeat myself three times because she didn't understand what I was saying all they said was oh sorry and told me how much I owed If the service was better I would give this five stars but the food is amazing so I probably...
Read moreVery tasty drunken noodles, and my 1st glass of Thai iced tea and there will be more I'm my future. My dish was a bit hotter than I expected, but with the Thai tea, very tolerable and very yummy. New waitress from another country didn't quite understand my special needs when it comes to red peppers, when cooked, they turn putrid to my senses, but raw or very slightly sauteed, they are delightful. So I'm grateful that she went to her co-worker who came to my table for clarification, and thanks to the cook who was willing to execute the task. I hate it when a server is faking their comprehension of English and wastes my time and the food has to be remade. I appreciate her willingness to ask for help, which in turn gave me the most excellent service. I'd much rather repeat what my special needs are than get food I don't want. There's risk of losing a job for most people who ask for help with their job these days, and I think that is no way for decent people to treat employees. This is an example of the courtesy and care that is sorely needed in our country these days, and it is cherished by people like myself, it gives me a glimpse of hope in these dark days of the orange menace in the oval, who is removing good manners and the rights and protections of our people in the USA. Yes, this experience is that big to me, A server almost never knows when they've made an impression on a customer, sometimes it's the smallest gesture that makes...
