As our vacation home is just up the road we were excited to try this place and thought that it could perhaps be a new local favorite spot when we are in town. We were cordially greeted and seated despite not having a reservation. The gentleman who may have been the manager or owner was friendly and accommodating and by the looks of it has built a loyal local clientele. He took our order and was nice enough to add that anything can be altered to suit our needs, I guess after noticing we were with our younger daughter, which was greatly appreciated. My wife who was not all that hungry ordered the pasta fagiole, which was outstanding. I ordered the Steak Diane. The steak was perfectly cooked though well under seasoned and the sauce was disappointing -watery and bland. My daughter ordered the penne a la vodka which was also a miss. For the price point , the portion was rather small and the pasta was not the best quality. Lastly my other daughter ordered the beef braciole with gnocchi. This was very good. Overall the food was hit and miss and that was expected especially since everyone’s taste is different. What was not expected though was how inattentive the service was. When we came in the place was a little busy. Aside from the gentleman, there was a female server who was taking care of our table. As someone who has worked in the hospitality business for years, I am extremely understanding when service might be slow during peak times. However, by the time our entrees hit the table the place had thinned out, leaving maybe 3 or 4 tables. From that point on we were ignored. There was a table of 4 next to us who were celebrating a birthday and they had a great amount of attention. They may have had the best service they have ever experienced. No such luck for us as we all sat in front of empty glasses for the duration of our meal. About 5 minutes after finishing our meals I saw the gentlemen with a pitcher of water and thought he might be heading in our direction to maybe fill up our glasses or ask if we would like another round but unfortunately he never made his way to us. Neither person even glanced our way.

I don’t think we will return based on our experience but hopefully service improves and residents and tourists who come visit have a better...

This place was ridiculous. The title of this review should be NO BREAD FOR YOU! like the Seinfeld episode, lol. We had reservations for 5 people. When we arrived, we were told our table was not ready although there were plenty of tables already made up. They made a big show then of setting a table up and took forever while other reservations piled up behind us in the cramped entry way to the restaurant (many people were grumbling about this behind us). That set the tone for the evening. The main waiter had a total attitude (I guess he was the owner?) and when we were given bread as is custom at Italian places, there were only 4 tiny pieces. We asked for more since we were 5 people and were brought a basket with 3 pieces. We asked again for more bread and were basically told we had had enough. When we dared to ask about this, the man I assume was the owner told us he wasn’t going to serve us anymore. We had ordered a lot of food, Ossobucco, appetizers etc. so it wasn't like we were trying to cheap out by eating bread. But our entire party was in agreement that we could not get past the bizarre, abusive treatment we had received and found an awesome place to eat out somewhere else. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. The food that we did taste was fine (the bread in question was dry and not that great) but so not worth the stupidity of the bread issue and the arrogance of the owner.

Response to owner: The truth? Actually you quite often get bad reviews concerning this very thing. Have you even read your own Google reviews? It seems you defensively answer every one instead of fixing the problem of just serving enough bread for the number of people at the table. We were absolutely not rude to your waitstaff, in fact she was rude to us. We also saw you being quite mean to your busboy. And we saw you smear campaigning our table to another table who hadn't even been in earshot of our table as we were leaving. You absolutely made it up that they were upset about anything regarding us. They seemed mystified as to why you were involving them. Again, for the reader, you can roll the dice on how you'll be treated, or eat somewhere else for a...

What a beautiful experience! The best of New York right here in the Poconos! I'd been to the original Volare many times and always enjoyed it. Imagine my delight in finding that this was the very restaurant I've known and loved for years! My NY friends are all jealous. Truly a fine dining experience. From the moment you walk in you are treated as though you are the only table in the place. Every waiter checks on you, making sure you're comfortable and have everything you need. The food is everything you would expect from a NY establishment...from the crisp on the outside, tender on the inside bread to the vast array of desserts, no matter what you order you can't go wrong. I ordered the Caprese salad and the Lasagna Passticiata...the mozzarella was perfect and the tomatoes tasted as though the were freshly picked from the garden before being sliced and put on the plate. The lasagna was amazing. Fresh pasta, ground beef, and sausage layered with a lovely bechamel, all brought together in a red sauce you have to taste to believe. My husband ordered the Carpaccio and the pork Ossu Bucco. The Carpaccio was tender, and oh so tasty and the Osso Bucco was fall off the bone delicious, it came with fresh pasta on the side, which was, as he put it, out of this world. We each got a dessert, I had the rice pudding, which tasted like my husband's mother's.. she's been gone for a long time now, so it really brought back memories of happy times with family. My husband had the tiramisu which was served in a glass...he said it was delicious...but also ate most of my rice pudding! All of this for an extremely reasonable price. We already have a reservation for next week so that we can bring some friends to enjoy this treasure of a restaurant. Thanks go out to Ceasar for treating us like old friends and to Eric for your amazing service...I didn't get anyone else's name, but thank you all for a most memorable evening and we will...

I’ve been coming to Volare restaurant in Stroudsburg, PA since it opened in September of last year. I never thought to write a review because it seemed like everyone already knows about this gem - it’s always packed out. After having so many wonderful meals and celebrations with family here, I wanted to take a moment and share my thoughts about this amazing restaurant and just as importantly about its owner. Cesar, who. Along with his staff regulars, have all become valued friends. Cesar moved his storied restaurant after decades from little Italy to PA when conditions changed there and I’m so glad he did. To say the food is good would almost sell it short. It’s nothing short of amazing. He still travels to NY every day to get the freshest meats and seafood. We’ve never had a bad anything…ever! The bread he puts out before the meal tastes like it’s fresh from the bakery and he never fails to stop by the table and talk for a minute, even as he runs up and down the stairs serving , greeting, and managing the staff. He remembers everyone’s name and even their food and drink preferences. It’s unreal! If you want to skip the trip into Manhattan and get even better food and a wonderful experience, go to Volare and say hi to Cesar-you’ll thank me later!

i came with extremely high expectations so this may be my own fault. it’s really just run of the mill italian food. not bad but also not great. it WAS busy, so i’ll give our waitress some slack. she’s very nice. but we had to ask her twice for our wine and beer, and when we got our drinks, i got a riesling when i ordered a moscato. small in hindsight but hey, just not what i ordered. i don’t like riesling or being one of those people, so i didn’t ask for it to get taken off the check, but i didn’t drink it at all. mozzarella in carrozza volare was recommended to us. that was pretty good! veal scaloppini/francese was alright. veal was cooked well, the coating was great, pasta was al dente so bonus points for that. sauce left me desiring some depth of flavor but I AM EXTREMELY HARD TO PLEASE and especially with this dish. my fiance enjoyed his bistecca danielle. they cooked it perfect medium rare but the bites i had i just felt were eh. once again a sauce leaving much to desired. but he was happy!! didn’t even entertain the idea of deserts. we played it safe and went to dairy queen instead. overall it wasn’t BAD. just very mid range and normal for this area. maybe on a day where it’s less busy quality is better?

Volare is a very special place. If you are looking for a quick cheap meal with no extras, this is not the place for you. I have been going to Volare for my entire life, 40 years. The owner treats you like family. You can expect to have perfect food every time, and the friendliest service you can imagine, complete with conversation, and a true interest in how you are doing, and your family is doing. I will reiterate, the pace that this restaurant goes at is relaxed. Prepare for 2 to 3 hours for dinner. Or more if you want it! Bring good company so you can enjoy conversation, bring good wine, so you can enjoy a few drinks and allow yourself to enjoy a relaxing dinner. Volare Is a treat and an experience. And if you go into it, understanding that, you will have the best time! Not everyone will appreciate the type of restaurant this is, but is it extremely special and we are lucky to have it in our area now.
